Aliens 2 rifle mod, help needed

mainly to inspire others who have better modding and namely texturing skills to take it as a basis for their own work and produce something way better. I just like the gun and I'd like to see it properly introduced in the game.

 

All problems are described in the description, but for easier orientation I repost:

 

 

1. the texture I did is very amateurish and crude. I just painted the whole gun dark gray since I know nothing about texturing at all. I generated a UV map from the original .obj file.

 

2. left hand placement on the model is bad. The hand is too high so it merges with the rifle. I was not able to find how to fix this.

(I really want to learn how the game computes where to place the hand on the item model, I had the same problem with my other mod experiments and it's annoying - I bet there is some simple solution)

 

Also, the gun is originally a rifle with a grenade launcher but atm I have only the rifle working. Somebody knows how to map a key to an alternative shooting action in the game and add another projectile node?

 

Concerning textures - I have URL to the original .obj file in description, but if somebody wants I can produce a UV map. The one I used for my crude texture is maybe not detailed enough as I expected to produce just a single color texture. Just tell me what resolution you want.

 

The mod is fully functional but the gun is overpowered, and very easy to find. So please for those who want to play with it as it is now, be warned the game would become boring very soon, because you can get the game very early, there is easily available ammo and you will just kill everything you meet.
