DukeNukem2
Question. My weapon in Fallout 3 is too shiney. How would I go about decreasing the brightness or sheen on my weapon texture.
SpeedyB64
The shinyness of the texture is determined by the alpha level of the normal map. The more transparent the less shiny (or the other way around :P )

The more transparent the less shiny (or the other way around :P ) Eh, I thought it was the greyscale of the normal map that detmined the amount of gloss, with completely black being non-shiny and completely white being shiny like a pimple on the nose of a pale teenager?
SpeedyB64
I think you are thinking of the glow map.
Baelkin
I think you are thinking of the glow map. Maybe both methods work. I used different shades of grey on the alpha layer of my mask mod to get different reflective values on the various parts of the object. What I'm thinking is happening when you use different transparency on the layer of black in the alpha layer, is that when the dds is saved it finds the nearest opaque color on the contrast scale - complete opaqueness would equate to black and complete transparency would equate to white.
