Sangel2525
Be warned, Sangel. Major spoiler below. Julius is a traitor to the Row, and is actually gonna work for ULTOR. He calls his friend Troy, the damn cop that infiltrated the Row from the inside out. I just beat the game so I read your spoiler, but uhhh I never found anything like that? I'm guessing it's one of the many things I missed since I'm only 61% complete according to my save. I looked into the spoiler and found it's kind of a secret mission. I'm going to have to play a bit more it seems. Also while I have a vague idea of the guy you're talking about based on some of the dialogue in Saint's Row 2, I never played the first one though I must admit I'm tempted to buy it now just to play it for backstory. God! This game was so much fun! I have 41 hours of play time on it! Probably 10 hours of which were spent on customizing my character. hrmmm REVIEW! I never played the first Saint's Row, but I stressed my disappointment with GTA 4 to a friend, and they told me to try Saint's Row 2, and showed me a Zero Punctuation review by Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw. errr suffice to say not only did it get me interested in Saint's Row 2, but it also made me a fan of Yahtzee's Zero Punctuation review's on The Escapist. I then went on youtube and looked at some of the gameplay videos, opening cinematic, and character customization feature, and thought to myself, wow this looks awesome! So between Yahtzee, and I must say, he is hilarious, and I find myself agreeing with his reviews a lot, and some detective work of my own I decided to purchase Saint's Row 2. Obviously I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the GTA 3 installments. From the original GTA 3, to Vice City, to San Andreas, even The Liberty City Chronicles were fun. They never seemed to take themselves too seriously, which is what I liked about them. Then enter GTA 4, okay much, much better graphics. However it just didn't feel like GTA, it took its self much too seriously, and it lacked the customization I was hoping for way before GTA 4 was ever released. Y'see after playing GTA San Andreas I liked the way they were going with character customization, and thought maybe in GTA 4 it would be like GTA 3 only you get to further customize your homicidal psychotic protagonist. But no I got stuck with Niko, his cousin, and loads of tutorials... Not to mention the game took its self much too seriously. Where as Saint's Row 2 has twisted, hilarious humor all over the place! Some of the missions had me laughing really hard, especially Bad Trip, also the mission in The Ronin quest when Wong shows up, and expresses his hatred for the Ronin's boss because he killed his dog. XD Saint's Row 2 is very immature and puerile, but you know what? That's what I look for in a sandbox crime game. A good laugh, coupled by total mayhem! A lot of people said the story sucked, honestly I liked it. It wasn't a masterful written work of art, but I don't think it was ever supposed to be. It was written to take a satirical shot at all the crime movies out there that are all serious. It was humor! On that note I appreciated the story, and thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was going for. Also oddly enough, if you let the game suck you in, it will totally immerse you. I found myself growing attached to all the characters, from Johnny Gatt, to Carlos, to Shandi, to Peirce! All of them were presented with great humor and likability. Also when someone wronged one of my crew's Lieutenants like say Johnny in The Ronin quest, or Shandi in The Sons of Samedi quest, and especially Carlos in the Brotherhood quest it gave me all the more satisfaction in utterly obliterating those rival gangs. I took extra joy in Carlos' case during the Brotherhood's quest after ummm gang leaders evil girlfriend trunk of a car, I won't spoil it but you feel really good about that one. Not only did I grow attached to my crew, I grew insanely attached to my main character thanks to the, "straight-jacket wearing, small animal tormenting insane" character customization! To quote Yahtzee. Yahtzee is dead on right the character customization blows away the character customization of any recent game I can think of, even older games, err all games off the top of my head. I mean yeah okay modded Oblivion might have customization on par, actually maybe not, Saint's Row 2 might have better character customization than even modded Oblivion... Funny thing is I'm talking about a vanilla game. It took a customization concept I was hoping for desperately in GTA 4 and exceeded my expectations by far! You can play, a male, a female, customize your voice, you body, your face, your walking, fighting style, your voice it's just crazy! I love it! I actually played a male character in this game, grant you he had a female voice, and looked really pretty with a small frame and all. That's because I am a self admitted fan of Yaoi, and I wanted my crime boss to be a whacked out super pretty boy. In Saint's Row 2 you can do it! Actually my character looked strikingly familiar to Count Cain, the character in my avatar, one of my all time favorite pretty boys. Well okay unlike Cain he had a nose piercing, and black hair with purple highlights. So what?! My point is in this game you can make just about any character you think of, pretty girl, handsome masculine guy, pretty boy, butch female, there's no end! You can even put male voices on a female character, and female voices on a male character. I spent maybe 10 hours of gameplay customizing my character, from his look to his clothes, and by god does it ever get you attached to your character. One really awesome aspect is in every cinematic, your character shows up just as you customized them! They even wear whatever clothing you are wearing at the time. The customization in this game is just amazing! You can make virtually any kind of character you want! The game play is reminiscent of GTA 3 games, but in my opinion easier weapons access. You can also buy shops, and clubs and such, which really pays off. You can even customize your gang, wow what can I say I love this game! It right now, the best 360 title I own. Fable 2 coming in at a close second, but Fable 2 messed up in that the game was too short. I heard there was new downloadable content, but I am iffy? What I really want is a super long expansion for Fable 2. Anyway Saint's Row 2 has something for everyone, so long as you enjoy sandbox crime games. So I totally recommend it! Lord Slyther
You've hit the nail on the head! That's all that makes it awesome about Saints Row 2! I tried to get my crime boss to look like my God King char Slyther in my avatar, but I figured bluing the face and oranging the hair was close enough. Since there's no Argonian-related races in Saints Row 2. It's all human like, but it's as close enough as I can make my boss. Also, I watched on Machinima.com and I watched the exclusive gameplay. As for GTA IV's multiplayer, at least they're kind enough to let you customize your character. God, I hate the LCPD in the game, since the phone is useless, I punished those stupid pathetic cops even in my Rise of Marines series on YouTube. I had to take down everything in my account though, and the account itself due to Warner Music Group being blocked from YouTube since they're close to bankruptcy. They lost the deal with YouTube, and WMG's famous artists such as Linkin Park, Metallica, and all these bands end up being taken off YouTube. But on to the point. GTA IV took itself too seriously, and the game has made me take it seriously. I got so pissed I snapped my disc in half, lol stupid thing to do, I know. I was like "I WASTED 50 DOLLARS ON A EPIC FAILURE GAME?!?", and that made me put a little campaign against LCPD, and broadcast RoM Episode 3 live on YouTube. My vids will be back up soon, but you get my point, right? In Saints Row 2, nobody has any power above you. There is no one who can be as good as you in the game. Except multiplayer :P I just love the "Never Die" cheat. It's how I role my gameplay.
Sangel2525
I understand, though GTA 4 didn't make me angry, and since it was my boyfriend's game it wouldn't be nice to break the disc. :P Grant you if I owned the game I'd probably just sell it for store credit at Gamestop as opposed to breaking it, if I were to buy GTA 4, which I am glad I didn't. I have no idea what Rockstar was thinking with GTA 4? I mean sure the graphics in GTA 4 were great and all, but that's all that I kinda liked about it. They really messed up the winning formula they had with the GTA 3 series. I was naively under the impression that the customization San Andreas was a prelude to what we might see in GTA 4 way before GTA 4 was ever announced. Stupid me... But that's fine, I always got a chuckle out of GTA games, and they were always fun to play, even though I always wished for character customization going back to GTA 3. Then GTA 4 came around, and... err... it was just boring... I mean Yahtzee makes a good point, in that there's a television in the game to distract your from actually playing the game! err perhaps this is a hint that even Rockstar thought it was boring, or maybe not... suffice to say I was totally disappointed with GTA 4, as I've mentioned several times. However Saint's Row 2 is the best sandbox crime game I have ever played! I think I'm going to put Oblivion on hold a little longer, because I want to play it again! Lord Slyther
Ah, GTA San Andreas.... I love that game. I'd say the best in the GTA series. GTA Vice City was cool too, lol Meh, I hold onto all my games, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and all 'em games, lol
Zynoq
To play the last secret mission you have to to go to the police station and listen to some recorded phone calls. But if you're planning on playing the first game, I advice you to do it before you try the last mission.
Lord Slyther
Thank you Zynoq, for pointing that out. I was about to include that as well.

Lord Slyther
Ok, but do you guys play alot online? My friend Halogod454 does. Because I don't have it yet, I'll get it soon.
Sangel2525
Yeah I figured it out, now I want to get a copy of Saint's Row in order to put the context of Saint's Row 2, particularly that secret mission in order. Though I don't know if I can recreate my pretty boy crime boss/psychopath in the original? Well then again, based on what I saw on Youtube the customization is similar in the first game, just less choices, and you just can't play as a female hence no female voice. If I can remake my character from Saint's Row 2 in the first one that would be neat, but his voice likely wouldn't fit. Meh maybe I could make him mute? :P Oh yeah, and his flower, and fairy tats! XD I love it! He comes off as such a wimp given how he looks, especially when he cross dresses, actually he does look like a female character then... err actually he always looks like a female! XD Yet despite that he'll happily cut off your head, bury someone alive, stab someone in the spine with a Katana pinning them to the ground and twisting it to make them scream, stuff your girlfriend into a trunk of a car and have her crushed, and so forth. :3 I do hope I can remake him in the first one, though I am well aware there's likely no make up. So he won't get his eyeliner or mascara, and there's likely no flowery tatoos, etc... but I do want to try the first one now. I spent like 3 hours alone on those sliders to get his look, and the 7 remaining hours shopping. I think I can maybe make due with Saint's Row 1's customization based on what I saw. It won't be perfect, but maybe close. :P Ok, but do you guys play alot online? Not a big fan of Xbox live, nor do I feel like dishing out the money for Gold to play online games, since all my games are for the most part single player with co-op elements. Saint's Row 2Fable 2Mass EffectAssassin's CreedBioshockSilent Hill 5 Saint's Row 1 seems like it'll be added to the roster in the near future, but yeah the only games I have that have co-op elements are Fable 2, and Saint's Row 2. I usually do multiplayer on my PC, grant you I kicked my World of Warsmack addiction ages ago, and I only occasionally play Left 4 Dead these days with people I know in r/l.
