Dirilu
Hallo guys.. I have reinstalled windows 7 and skyrim today. But my skyrim savegame wont work because of all the mods I was using. I have seen alot of different errors today. And I have tried to installed all the mods I was using, but now It just crashes when loading the savegame. So my question is.. What is the right way too do this propely from the start?Or is there a way to clean a savegame from mods, and start installing mods after that.?Is there some kind of 3 party software there can tell me what mods I was using? Please help, this is my first time reinstalling skyrim with mods. //Dirilu
prod80
Sorry but unless you have a backup of all your old mods your savegames are beyond saving. Savegames will remember all your installed goodies, so when they are missing (or in some cases even reinstalled) your save game becomes broken and in worst case scenario; will not open at all. There is no good way to fix it, certainly not because you do not know which mods were installed (and then you still need to know your load order in some cases). And any 'procedure' to try and clean stuff from your saves is not going to save it... and even if you manage to open your save eventually - there is no way to say what will still work in that game and what will not (or if the game will be stable at all). Sorry to say, but that's just the way it is :( ...If ever you happen to reinstall the OS again, make sure you keep a backup of these files; In %userprofile%\My documents\My games\Skyrimfile: skyrim.inifile: skyrimprefs.ini In %userprofile%\AppData\local\Skyrimfile: plugins.txt Skyrim folderfolder: Data + all subfoldersAny files manually placed there (eg. SMAA injectors, ENB, etc) And of course all your save games... And even if you have all that, it's not a guarantee things will just work fine after reinstall of the OS. :( hope not too much progress was lost Edited May 14, 2013 by prod80

prod80
The save doesnt know the name of the mod it's missing, just the content it added... There's some software to look inside, never tried it tho... perhaps this can put you on a track;http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1403745-alphabeta-skyrim-save-viewer/Highly doubt it will lead anywhere tho... but who knows, perhaps you can find stuff inside that will tell you something.
