Loffi
Just as the title says: I can't start a new game. After the first loading screen it crashes. I just got this game yesterday, and haven't been able to play at all! I have Windows 7, and have tried compatibility modes and starting the game with admin privileges. I have the game downloaded from steam. At first I tried the game with some mods, and got the ctd at new game. Thinking it was the mods, I uninstalled the game and deleted all files that anything to do with it. However, re-unloading all the files through Steam and reinstalling the game, without mods, doesn't help at all. I still can't play... Thanks for any help. Yarxov
What are your PC specs? And validate the cache in steam. Right click-> properties-> data-> validate integrity of game cache. Check where youre installing it too, should be in your steamapps/common folder.

Yarxov
That is bad, try looking at the data files, try a game without any DLCs, they might be messing things up. Are you crashing on a new game or launch? (No compatibility, ran as admin) Check out this guide too http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/946782-official-fallout-new-vegas/page__st__315
Loffi
Thanks for the link, that was just what I needed! The problem was a missing d3d9.dll file, which I now remember I also needed to get Fallout 3 working. I copied it from my Fallout 3 folder to NV's folder and now I can start a new game!
