Texximus
While I've been cleaning the unrecognized list I've been wondering... how many of these could be merged into BashedPatch... is there anyway to find out?
Texximus
haha so I tried to mark one mergable in Bash and got this window saying unmergable: Not Mergeable• blackglasst.esp: Has BSA archive. Empty mod. Empty mod??? I know what this one does and have seen & used the weaps it changed. Am I doing it wrong? (that's the usual answer... at least from the wife!) ripple
The Bashed Patch is not so much a utility for merging plugins, as a tool for merge selected conflicting records from mods which contain those records. It does allow for merging of mods that contain very minor edits (e.g. 'game setting' edits) into the Bashed Patch (and only those types of mods), so those mod plugins can be disabled. This is more useful to people who are getting close to hitting the 255 plugin cap, and not particularly useful otherwise. So don't merge anything in Wrye Bash. Just use it to build and rebuild the Bashed Patch.
Texximus
Here's a new one... when loading a plugin into TES5Edit... ripple
Everything looks good according to the BOSS log. To make it easy, I recommend you just uninstall any unrecognized mods that contain conflicting records, and keep those that do not. The alternatives are: 1) look through each unrecognized plugin, read the records where there are conflicts, and decide who should load before/after who. Very time consuming. 2) make your own compatibility patches, also very time consuming. In all cases, you should use the 'BOSS Userlist Manager' after you have decided where the unrecognized plugins should load, and set custom rules for those plugins, so their load order position will no longer be reset each time you run BOSS (and they will no longer appear as 'unrecognized plugins' and you will receive no further warnings, so you need to 'sure' they should be loading where you want them to load). The bash tags can be ignored. If you have both BOSS and Wrye Bash installed, the first time you run Wrye Bash, plugins not tagged according to BOSS suggestions will automatically be tagged accordingly. Texximus
Well I've been able to save and load diff saves since doing all this... still have CTD traveling to Riverwood so I guess I'll just use fast travel. I've read on other forums there something about the area that causes frequent CTD's so ah well.... nothing to miss other than a few wolves. I can't thank the community here enough for all the guidance and patience while teaching me thru this. Really an incredible community here :)
Monkinsane
I'll get the 'elephant in the room' out fo the way first: you are using way too many mods. Skyrim for PC is intended to be modded, not 'heavily modded.' To stabilize such an extensive load order would, at minimum, require the ability to interpret plugin records in TES5Edit and making custom compatibility patches (automated dynamically generated patches would be insufficient). As a last resort, you might consider trimming that load order and starting a new game (so you don't need to deal with problems generated by orphan script data left in existing save games). But before that.... 1) Cleaning: download TES5Edit from the link in your BOSS log, follow the instructions on the page, and clean the plugins flagged by BOSS as containing 'dirty edits' (including the DLC and update esm's). You will need to remove identical to master entries as well as undelete/disable deleted references. 2) Maintenance: go through your BOSS log and look for any error messags, for example.. ClimatesOfTamriel-Interiors-Warm.esp ActiveIncompatible with: Realistic Lighting OverhaulThe base CoT mod is compatible with RLO, not the optional interior plugins, since they edit many of the same imagespace, cell lighting, etc. 3) back up your current game ini files, then delete them and let the game generate new ones on the next launch. The default ini settings are optimized for stability. Performance related tweaks boost performance by sacrificing game stability. I recommend not fiddling with ini tweaks (except for non-peformances related tweaks like enabling papyrus logging or increasing autosave counts) unless you have a below requirement spec and need to tweak the ini files just to sustain playable framerates. 4) Rogue mods: you have many mods not recognized by BOSS (because the BOSS database has no information on them). After you run BOSS, they go to the bottom of the load order, and override conflicting edits from the other plugins. Ideally, their load order position should be adjusted manually. The best way to determine where they should load is to check the plugins in TES5Edit, compare them with the other plugins in your load order. If they do not contain conflicting edits, you can safely load them any where in the load order above your compatibility patches (e.g. AV patch, Bashed Patch). Otherwise, you will have to decide, based on which conflicting record should win in order to optimize the stability of the load order. If all of this is going over your head a bit, then I recommend you uninstall the mods not recognized by BOSS, so you don't have to deal with the aggravation (since you have so many). 5) I am inclined to suggest that you uninstall 'Better Cities.' If a modder does not understand the kind of instability that can be introduced just by deleting default game stuff in the CK without using TES5Edit to subsequently clean those plugins, they don't really understand what they are doing. But I am also inclined to believe that the modder for 'Better Cities' is perhaps still learning and may sort out those issues at some point. But you might consider uninstalling those mods for now. I agree, With that many mods it's quite likely that a couple of them are changing the same things, and that can be disasterous - Believe me, I know from experience! (Was running 236 active mods at one stage with disasterous results, down to 142 - of which most are just extra armors and weapons. :p) Make sure you aren't running any mods that change the same things, eg 2 mods making enhancements to the same cities. Or two mods making changes to combat behavior. Cut those down so you have only 1 of each type of mod and your problems should decrease dramatically. (You'll probably have to start a new game as your save games will be riddled with reffrences to the removed mods.) Once you've got those conflicts sorted, you can start and troubleshoot any other problems you might run into, knowing that it's most likely not due to 2 mods trying to change the same thing. Also, clean those mods that have dirty edits using TES5Edit, that can sometimes improve lag/stutter.
