Sin911
After working extensively on a mod I ended up with numerous "Duplicate Form ID" errors, after adding quite a few items to the mod. The problem presented itself the next time I went to open the mod in the Construction Set. I searched and read quite alot on various forums, including this one, where other people have had the same problem. There was always much speculation and alot of work on the part of the modder to fix the issue. Many times the modder would completely redo their mod from scratch or just ditch the mod. What I ended up doing to fix the problem, and so far there hasn't been any problems, is with the mod in question open in the Construction Set, I went to the top to File/Tools/Resave with New IDs. I then renamed the mod and saved it. After reviewing the newly saved mod, I notice all the IDs have been changed and the problem is fixed. I haven't ran across any problems since and everything seems to run as it should. I don't understand all the technical aspects and don't guarantee that this is a fix for everyone, but since it doesn't replace your old mod, instead just creating a duplicate of it with new IDs, it may very well be a great option. This may be common knowledge by now, but I couldn't find anyone who had used this solution. The problem seemed rare enough that not to many people had alot of experience with it. If this helps someone, great! As always, this should in no way replace good modding habits such as saving often and backing up your mod periodically. I'm not a highly technical person, but hopefully some of the more experienced members on here can shed a little more enlightenment on weather this is a good fix or not, though as I said, I haven't had any problems since. Also, I noticed this problem, or one similar to it, seems more common with Fallout than with Oblivion. If their Construction Set is similar, this may very well work for them also.
