CTD, Corrupted DLC ...

So, after a long time away from Skyrim, I downloaded the DLCs off steam last night and started playing again. Went to play again tonight ... played for awhile, decided that since I d'led the DLCs, I should check for updates on mods I use (I'm aware that steam auto updates mods d/led from workshop, I mean mods from Nexus and the like). Go to do so, also delete one or two mods that I have no interest in anymore.

Get everything installed properly, go to play ... game starts up, gets me to title screen (the steel dragon insignia) ... but before the options to start/continue/load/etc appear, game CTDs.

Now things begin to get weird ... load BOSS to make sure load order is correct, seems to be ... load wrye bash ... it tells me the DLC esms, all 3, are corrupt.

Anyone able to tell me what's going on and what I can do?

Adding DLC's to an already modded game is not a good thing to do, even when you update all your mods... Also updating/changing mods (uninstalling them specifically) causes problems... mainly crashes in skyrim which are mod related are caused by removing mods and not adding them. Your save game might be searching for things it cannot find anymore --> problems start

What happens when you just start a new game?

Also use the unofficial skyrim patches (also for DLC's) ... they fix a lot of issues.

Can't even start a new game ... like I said, I get to the title screen with the steel dragon insignia, but it CTDs before the options for new game/load game/etc. come up.

I'm getting the unsettling feeling that I may be needing to uninstall/delete everything and start from scratch ... is this necessary, or do I have other options? Are the unofficial patches on Nexus btw?

No, you need to download TES5Edit and load it up (it does the same (+more) as when skyrim starts... loading your mods...)

So, what will happen is probably that TES5Edit will 'crash' as well, with the exception that it will tell you why.

I was using TES5Edit to do a basic cleaning of the dlcs earlier (and wrye still had them as corrupt and wouldn't load them .... )

Having TES5Edit load everything ... it did give me quite a few error messages ... However, I'm not actually that intelligent as to know what any of it means. What do I do now?
