savior99
hi all, is it possible to move skyrim from an HDD (my D drive) to SSD (my C drive with OS and that's it, with plenty of space in it) without restarting a new game? i did the mistake of installing skyrim on my games HDD instead of SSD. I have skyRedone and 10-12 mods, it's not the steam version. Do you think there is a way or it's impossible? i guess i should fix all the registry settings that point to my D drive to point to C and i don't think that's really feasible. Anyone has more info on that? thanks
rhowington
I don't understand what you mean by it is not the Steam version. Do you have a legal copy of the game? I have the Skyrim DVD purchased when the game first was released. It automatically contacted my Steam account. Using a cracked version will get you banned from this site. Now, to answer your question; all you have to do is uninstall your game from the hard drive and reinstall it ti the SSD. No saves will be lost unless you tell it to delete them during uninstallation. Make a backup just to be sure. You should probably move NMM over as well. BTW, simply installing to an SSD, may not show you any increase in frame rates or stability. All a SSD might improve your load times. Your graphics card and cpu really determines the quality of play.
savior99
thanks a lot! yes it is a legal copy! i know it will not improve my framerates, but i hope (as somebody wrote) that it will improve the microstuttering in some environments. But the main reason why i want to move it is because of the many times it loads when you are in a city for example, entering and exiting houses and shops... I will do as you said, and i will be careful to install exactly the same mods so the savegame file will not be messed up. cheers
