Nexus mod manager file not found

I downloaded the Nexus mod manager and it says: You are missing C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\downloading\22380\data\falloutnv.esm please make sure this file is present. I am new to moding and fallout new vegas is the only game i have ever modded. I even checked in program files its there. Please help.

 

PS: I have windows 8

I tried reinstalling the Nexus mod manager, it didn't work either.

go into settings and try changing New Vegas Directory to "c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\"

Nexus mod manager does this when I open it so I cant acses settings. Unless you mean settings elsewhere, If so please specify.

there's a file in your users folder /appdata/local/FOMM. a few folders down in there is a config file called users.exe. you can change it if you open that up in notepad. hopefully that will work.

Theres no appdata folder looked everywhere, is that the issue?

i haven't used windows 8, so it may be different, or it may be hidden. you could try going to your user folder (the "users and settings/your name" one) and searching for FOMM

I found appdata with local under it but all local has in it is a file called microsoft, and then a file called sqm, and another file called windows under sqm that is empty.
