Pandora's Closet

Mincing steps, feathered light, tiptoed heavy, inching towards the closet. Faint resonances in obvious decrescendo adourns her ears, occupying the silent subconsciousness. It is with little hesitation and hindrance that she is able to reach the doors of the oftenly closed closet. With dainty movements of her fingers, she opens the doors.

Gradual illumination from the nearby lightsource sheds light upon a peculiar box of petite and insipid fashioning. Bland design with bland colours, an eyesore and whatnot. But this is neither an abomination nor a repugnance, but rather a gem of heartly horrors. As it is, 'tis a box of unresolved traumas and ill irks. For the unitiated, it is hellish in it's circumstances. Pandora's box in Pandora's closet.

Unspoken apprehension turns into unspoken horror as she discovers that the enclosing lid has been without a clasp. The box has been unlocked!

But how?

How could anyone possibly know the secret to opening the box? Let alone the box, the closet itself is locked by her and only she holds the unduplicated key. Many possibilities of cause and effect races through her mind. In trains of thoughts unbroken, she views the dread consequences in clear virtuations.

She sees her past, a boy wearing a hussar's uniform. And her future, a stranger clothed in a space-dye vest. On it, the insignia of a third of a heart. In the visage of her mind's eye, the figure of her undecided past walks with echoing footsteps towards her at a dreaded pace. While her future runs towards the sunset horizon in a cluttered manner.

At that instant, she fears the coming of what she fears most.

Loneliness and seeming abandonment.

At the back of her mind, she hears the screams of her old beloveds telling her to come back to initial grace. All at the expense of her centre.

With her box opened, will Pandora become, bedlam, or behoove?
