JMichi
Hi all, I'm trying to get into modding for Skyrim SE and figured I'd start with something somewhat simple. What I want to do is create an overlay texture for Racemenu (body paints / beauty marks etc) but cant seem to get past this point of the guide (Guide link http://winkingskeever.com/how-to-create-new-body-paints-and-overlays-for-racemenu-part-2/ ) (Within Creation Kit) Where it says: 2. On the top bar, go to Gameplay -> Compile Papyrus Scripts. This may take a moment to load. (This took forever but eventually loaded)3. Scroll through the tediously long and unsearchable list until you find “RaceMenuBase”. Click the checkbox next to it, and then click “Compile”. Then I get this error: Starting 1 compile threads for 1 files...Compiling "RaceMenuBase"...D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Source\Scripts\RaceMenuBase.psc(144,4): RegisterForModEvent is not a function or does not existD:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Hanaisse
That is a completely unnecessary step, as well as the next step in that guide (also potentially dangerous as it is actually recompiling ALL your scripts). You DO NOT need to compile the Racemenu scripts. Make sure you have the Racemenu Modders package installed in your Data folder and use the instructions on the Racemenu page on How to Make a Plugin (scroll way down in the description page). JMichi
Thanks Hanaisse! I will give it a shot later, and see if I run into anything else. Thanks for your help!
JMichi
So I finally got a moment to try again, this time exactly following the instructions on the Racemenu page and I'm running into an issue where you have to add a script within the alias window. "SCRIPTS: Cannot open store for class "ski_configbase", missing file?" STEPS Extract the modders package to your Data folderOpen Creation Kit (You do not need to load Skyrim.esm)Create new questGive quest a unique IDPress Quest Aliases tabRight click the list, New Reference AliasName the alias PlayerTick Specific ReferencePress Select Force ReferenceSelect Cell (any), Ref PlayerRef ('Player') click OKPress the Add button in the Scripts group - (getting error message attached in image) The error does come up on google, but I havent really found a solution. I'll keep looking around for a solution but if anyone has any clue what my problem could be please share. Thanks!
JMichi
Above problem seems to have gone away after I installed Creation Kit fixes from : https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/20061?tab=description Now the script window loads up, but Racemenuload does not show up. I double checked to make sure the Modders Package was correctly installed, and the scripts are indeed in the folder along with the other hundreds of scripts that DO show up. Hanaisse
I remember having the same issue but not sure how I solved it, lol. I think I extracted the scripts out of the Racemenu main file and let it overwrite the scripts that came from the modders package. I believe they're more up to date. JMichi
Hmm. I have no clue how to do that lol. But I will look around and keep posting progress, theres no way I am the first or last person to run into these issues.
JMichi
Documenting how I solved several issues. Please make a backup of your Skyrim files before implementing these fixes. Problem:Cannot open store for class "ski_configbase", missing file? Solution: This solution assumes you already have SKSE64 installed. But you should reinstall it after. This is going to sound wrong, but It is how I solved it. Skyrim Special Edition appears to have a "\Data\Source\Scripts" and a "Data\Scripts\Source". 1. Extract the Scripts.zip into a "Scripts" folder on your desktop. (These are the base skyrim scripts). It should have 2 subfolders called Source and Dialog Views.Scripts\DialogViews & Scripts\Source2. Literally, Drag the Scripts folder (on your Desktop) into Skyrim Special Edition\Data\ folder and overwrite whatever it asks for. 3. Go into the Scripts\Source\Scripts folder you extracted. "Desktop\Scripts\Source\Scripts" And copy all of the files in there, and paste into "Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Source\Scripts" Overwriting whatever it asks for. 4. Extract "SKSE64-2.0.19 Scripts.zip" from the Skyrim Special Edition\Data\ folder onto your desktop. 5. Within the new SKSE Scripts folder (on your Desktop), Drag the Scripts folder into Skyrim Special Edition\Data\ and overwrite anything it wants to overwrite. 6. Copy ALL .psc files from "Desktop\SKSE64-2.0.19 Scripts\Scripts\Source" TO "Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Source\Scripts" and overwrite anything it wants to overwrite. I realize how redundant this is, but its what solved the issue for me. Edited May 15, 2021 by JMichi
JMichi
Problem: Racemenuload Script not showing up in Creation Kit. Solution: Assuming you've installed the "Modders Package" that is available on the Racemenu mod page. I believe the author hasnt updated this file in a while and is actually missing stuff. The work around for this was using the Bethesda Archive Extractor (BAE) tool:https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/974 1. Download and Extract the Tool anywhere 2. Copy the Racemenu.bsa file either from your active mods directory or from the Racemenu mod page (download it and extract it somewhere). Paste the Racemenu.bsa into the BAE tool folder. 3. Open up BAE.exe and extract the contents of Racemenu.bsa 4. Copy the Scripts folder from "BAE v0.10-974-0-10\Racemenu" and Paste it into "Skyrim Special Edition\Data\" And overwrite whatever it asks for. For clarification:.pex files go into "Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Scripts".psc files go into "Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Scripts\Source" This should give you the missing .pex files, and update the .psc files from the Modders Package. Thank you @Hanaisse for all the extra help troubleshooting behind the scenes. Documenting so others can hopefully fix these issues and make cool stuff (As well as document their own fixes to problems they solve).
