LE Manticore: Mob + AI request

Hello Everyone,

 

Ever since I started playing Skyrim I was wondering where are all the RPG bosses we've all come to hate to love and love to hate: Manticores, Chimeras, Behemoths (remember when final fantasy behemoths = R2 + L2!!), or even a Griffin/Cockatrice (from dragon's dogma, black color + eagle/chicken + a few mammal limbs). Even with the wide variety of mods I was skeptical as to whether or not they can be modded into the game.

 

But 2 years of the mods I've seen and I came to realize they are totally doable: the easiest of which being the Manticore.

 

For example, frankthefish's mod "Prides of Skyrim" has a lion variation of sabrecats, making the Manticore model would be a simple addition of properly sized/colored wings.

 

The hard part however is animating it "realisticly" (quote unquote cuz none of them are real, I was just refering to the physics of their animation). so flying attacks landing and attacking on foot, that kind of thing. One of the important and unique features of this creature shud be its fearsome roar (i believe the script used for when the greybeards shout at you + a lion roar can be used here). Intimidating glowing eyes wouldn't hurt either along with a poison breath. It would be an added bonus of coolness if the animation at < 30% hp is different from HP > 30% (slower, more display of weakness).

 

If the model and animation are complete the AI shudn't be too complex to manage, e.g. attempt to fly away if wounded.

 

Kindly consider my request and whoever does this seriously deserves a freakin medal.

 

P.S. Chimera (modeling and animating) and behemoth (some animations made from scratch like heaving and bull charging) would be a lot of work but this would be a great start (even without the scorpion tail).

I figured since no one replied to my thread yet I might as well use the suggested issues on the sticky thread.

 

 

A). The idea needs more elaboration/examples, or isn't very clear.

- Well to simplify things, i wanna see if a manticore can be made.

B). The idea isn't something which can be done within the game, or requires rare talents in the community.

- I gave a few examples as to how its very possible given some mods such Dragon Combat Overhaul reprograms dragon AIs and adds new moves to their arsenal. Skin mods that can be used for a manticore I gave the example in the Prides of Skyrim mod with a few added things (dragon wing).

C). The idea is one which is something that requires more work than anyone who might respond might be willing to offer.

- I highlighted the areas of difficulty and divided my request into 3 components: model, animation, AI. if anyone can do any of those three seperately then it would be much appreciated.

D). The idea is one which nobody is particularly interested in the general idea.

- I completely understand if this is the case, its just that i'm a seasoned RPG player and I'd hate to see the game lack some unique epic bosses that are found in most games.

E). The one posting the idea is exceptionally rude, demanding, or just plain thankless toward anyone who might respond.

- I appologize if I may have come off as so, please do not take my excitement as a form of being demanding: i would be grateful to anyone who engages in this request.

The problem with requests is that there's less people who are capable of filling the request than there's people requesting things.

 

I was going to write something here, but realized I'd be essentially just crushing almost whole request.

 

Don't bump your own thread. It ain't helping.

 

Manticore is quite hard. Lion with scorpion tail is doable, but wings can't be animated (at least it's quite hard to do if it's possible), thus the wings would need to be scrapped off.

Sabrecat (which would be good base), doesn't have any "spitting" animation, or attack aligned to it. (Like chaurus, dragon and some other races have)

Same for flying.

 

.. Made me think of some kinda "funky" dragon/lion/scorpion combo.

 

I'm extremely interested in all kind of fantasy creatures myself.

But maybe artist/maker/modder could take some "freedom" with these ideas?

Manticore could "just" be a lion with scorpion tail. In my opinion even that'd be really awesome.

 

Cockatrice looks like something that could use dragon's body as a base. (or dragon's skeleton), but it might be really hard one to make. (plus, gigantic cockatrice monster would be more fun than serious)

 

As for chimera.. No idea how to do that.

 

Pictures help alot when making requests like this.

I'm quite familiar with the beasts you mentioned, but not all of us want to spend time on google and look through images and think which one is the right one.
