Game crashes when loading around cities

Like the title says, my game crashes whenever I load somewhere near a city. For example, if I were to start out my game in a closed space or in the wilderness, then the game would work normally. If I were to load a city or it's surrounding area then it would crash as the loading finishes.

I'll paste my mods and load order from BOSS.

1.Disable Open Cities Skyrim.esp (that's probably you're problem)

2.If not that try disabling BWS.esp, I think I remember that one was causing me some trouble

3. -Disable all mods and see if the game crashes

-Re-activate a chunk of around 5-10 mods and see if the game crashes then

-Repeat step 2 until the game crashes and then disable the last chunk of mods you activated

-One by one, activate the mods within that chunk until the game crashes and then you have your culprit

 

Side note: It probably isn't causing your specific crash but your boss log shows that you have both "ethereal_elven_overhaul.esp" and "XCES.esp."

Those are apparently incompatible according to Boss -> "ethereal_elven_overhaul.esp Active, Incompatible with: XCES.esp"

Thanks for the suggestions, but unfortunately disabling those specific esps didn't work. Looks like I have to use trial and error and see what is causing it.

Crashes still occur without any active mods. Looks like it's a problem with the game files. I'll just reinstall for now and see what happens

I would recommend deleting both your Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini and having Skyrim make new ones. It likely won't fix your issue but it may help out generally.

 

Also I, since you're going to reinstall all of your mods anyway, I would recommend looking at http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.5. Even if you don't want any texture mods, STEP has many gameplay mods that are a bit more up to date than yours.

 

Also, after you reinstall, don't use Open Cities. Disabling it may not have fixed your game immediately but Open cities is highly incompatible with just about everything.
