Magic School, How it should've been done

I was thinking. Normally you wounder around and clear out dungeons of the undead for loot and fun.
But you can join the assassins guild, or one of the two factions, for example, and you get unique quests and situations.
Meanwhile, you join a school of magic as a student and are immediately sent to start clearing out dungeons of the undead, and the closest thing to classes are optional fetch quests for one of the 3 mages in the entire campus.

What about an actual school experience? Why not sign up for classes, and spend most of your time practicing magic in a schoolroom style. Square off against some students or professors in a friendly duel of wards and destruction spells. Cast your summon into an area to fight against other student's summons. Choose what field you are interested in learning, then have classes you have to attend to graduate which are also a gret way to learn spells, about them; And if you like using them, and have the option to go directly to the exam phase, where it is not so structured.

I think in general this quest arc could be a whole lot bigger, and more realistic; And be an alternative way learn more magic spessl and level up your magic skill levels. Also The college is just tiny and unimpressive.

But currently I work on "College of Winterhold Rebuild" expansion mod that partially involves what you say(Part of mod adds more NPC that study, practice, etc). Also you (as Archmage) can teach them, like Toldfir teach you use Wards in the beginning of College quests.

Well at least in the combat magic classes it would combat, just rewards instead of looting dead corpses. And the strict guidelines that any teacher could realistically enforce could mean any combat scenario is realistic. And for the other disciplines they would not be practically any different then when you normally level the skill, just in a more controlled environment. And I do not think it would be bad to make it level skills far faster, up to some max level. Alchemy class would function a lot like you trying to level alchemy on your own, but with loads of items given to you and some teacher rambling off interesting hints and tips if you want to stand around and listen. And you would be told how to create some basic but very useful potions.

So I think it could be a lot of fun.

Great for you, I was surprised that more did not exist already. It is not online yet right? I could not find anything by that name at least.
