Nothing Works

Hello everyone.

I am sure that there are already a few Topics with the same questions that i will ask,

but since most of them are long abandoned i'll start a new one.

I will try to avoid people saying that i don't fully explain my issue, so i will be as thorough as possible.

I will say this before hand: I am Dutch, so i apologize in advance for any mistakes in spelling/grammar

I recently dicided to play Skyrim again. So as usual i installed it again via Steam and of course i also wanted to install mods,

since that is the only reason why i still like the game. Don't get me wrong, the game is good, but without mods, it is no more than that.

The installation was not the problem. I tried it, and it worked perfectly, but after i downloaded the first mod, s*** already hit the fan.

I followed this (sort of) tutorial on Nexus on how to get the best detail out of your Skyrim experience. Link: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30936/? I just followed the steps in the description.

I followed it step by step, but the first step was already wrong apparantly.

After i downloaded the first mod "Optimized Vanilla Textures by Tony971" Link: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57353/? i installed it and I checked if the game would still run like it is supposed to.

It did not.

When i came to the main menu, everything was purple. The Skyrim Logo was purple, the mist was not mist, but just giant sheets of purple covering the screen.

I entered a new game: Alduin's statue (in the loading screen) was purple all through, the cart was purple, the armor of the guys sitting next to me, the trees, the horses. Even the very ground was purple.

While i assume that this means that texuters are missing, i still don't know why.

Nexus mods + the Nexus Mods Manager always worked for me, and now suddenly they don't.

I installed SKSE (LInk: http://skse.silverlock.org/ ) using this tutorial ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTGnQIiNVqA ), and that seemed to work. Again i followed every step and checked in-game and it seemed to work. Since SKSE doesn't add any visual changes i tried a mod that would require SKSE to work. I decided to install SKYUI ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3863/? ). I downloaded it, installed it, but then it said that i needed to have SKSE active. Which i really thought i did. I checked the game again and it indeed said that SKSE was running. At this point i was lost.

I installed SKYUI anyway, but as i entered the game, i couldn't move and the screen was shaking heavily.

I have absolutely no idea what is going on. I tried other mods and all failed. I am beginning to think it is an issue with the Nexus Mod Manager, but i don't know what it is.

I'm afraid i don't know too much about computers/mods and how it works.

With that in mind, if anyone has a solution, or if he/she knows what the problem is, please explain what it is and what i need to do in detail. Otherwise i'll be more lost, than the TV show Lost.

I'll say it once again, i followed every step and everything should work, since it worked for me before.

My computer can more than handle even the heaviest mods.

i have an:

i7 Processor

16GB Ram

2TB Hard-drive

4GB Nvidea GTX 960

so i think there should be no problem there.

Please.

I really want to play it again but i just can't. Help me.

With kind regards and hopeful thinking

I don't know what would be causing this & I really hope that someone else can help you fix it, I just wanted to give you a tip that changed my game play experience when using mods forever - use Mod Organiser instead of NMM as it keeps all mod files separate from your game files, that way if something goes wrong with a mod it is much easier to completely remove it without any permanent damage having being done to your game.

Best of luck in resolving this - if it turns out that you simply can't fix it I would completely uninstall Skyrim & everything related to it, reinstall from scratch & try MO instead of NMM. (I had to do this more than once before I discovered MO).

Thanks for the tip, but i have had bad experiences with Mod Organiser in the past. But i guess i should try again.

Also: completely uninstalling Skyrim + everything related to it, is something i already did, thrice. So if it still does not work after try 4, i don't know what will.

But thanks anyways

Sincerely the best of luck, how devastating  I don't know if this will help, but just in case you haven't already tried it maybe after removing all your mods you could verify your game files in Steam before doing your next complete uninstall/reinstall?

I found MO difficult to use at first, but the tutorials got me on track with it fast.

Well, this should help fix the problem:

1. Uninstall the texture mod(s) via NMM

2, Check the integrity of the local files via Steam and let it re-download things

3. In order to make Sky and the other such plugins to work start your game via SKSE not via the game launcher. (In my setup I have 2 different entries for Skyrim on Steam - one for the game, one for SKSE, but you can also make a shortcut to the SKSE launcher and use that).

All problems should be gone.
