  1. Hey guys. Since Gopher released his video with idea of Taxi service mod, thoughts about mod which will resolve fast travel problem haunts me. I'm not much good at modding (some values tweaks and simple texture editing/fixing is the best i can do), even worse, i have not much time for playing or modding. So i probably won't be ever able to make mod, that i imagined. Because of this i'm giving my idea of "Phoenix Reborn" mod to your judgement - maybe someone will like it and feel that he/she will be able to make it in full scale. I've posted this idea firstly on Gopher's forum, where it has evolved into current stage: Now, when GECK is out and transport mods appearing one after another, i think that experienced modders can implement my idea without any problems... if, they will be interested in it, of course. Features This mod will allow Vault Dweller to obtain (repair, actually) his/her own nonfaction vertibird and pilot for it, which can accompany him/her through all the travelling around Commonwealth. Quest to obtain it will be able even on 1st level, but completion will depend on player's effort and skill (possible, but hard on low levels, and pretty easy for high leveled character). It will work just like standard BoS vertibird, but with some additional features (of course if it will be possible). 1. It will have slightly increased amount of hit points and minigun with incendiary ammo, but also custom Phoenix paint... or stickers/pinups etc. 2. At the arriving to destination it won't kick our hero from vertibird and fly away. You should get out by yourself if you want it. After you get out the machine it will take off and provide a fire support if enemies attacking you, and land in the same place, when area is clear, then it will remain where you left it, unless you give the pilot different order or untill you call vertibird to another place by shooting flare or placing smoke grenade / radio beacon. 3. When you're calling vertibird into a middle of warzone it will land only when all enemies will be eliminated. 4. Vertibird have some kind of trunk to store loot from your adventures. And lots of it, because vertibird is pretty powerful thing. But it can be accessed only through pilot's dialog (can be implemented like pilot's inventory). 5. When shot down (even with Vault Dweller aboard) it will fall but won't explode. Pilot-mechanic will be injured, but not dead. Vault Dweller will lost 2/3 of his/her Health Points and chest and head structure, hands and legs will be completely broken. Then "Patching the bird" quest will start. 6. It will be able to send vertibird to any owned settlement, but can be repaired only in those which have built "Vertibird landing pad". It will remain there and repair until Vault Dweller call/send it to another place. 7. Vertibird have it's own radio beacon, so you always will be able to find it. Story in short Story is based on repairing vertibird, which is lifework of russian prewar-ghoul mechanic and his son (surprisingly smoothskin), and his dream to return back to the fatherland, because he believes that destructive Great War and total atomic annihilation can't really cover whole area of Russian country, especially Siberia and Far East (it's really was no reasons to drop (waste?) warheads into wild Taiga, where population density is 0,5 human on square kilometer). But gunners want's this vertibird too and that is the problem, which Vault Dweller may help to resolve. Full Story Special rewards. This mod idea with some useful materials can be found on Nexusmods as modders resource. Post Scriptum If you like this idea, and want to try to make this mod, you're free to do it. No shoutouts, credit, etc. needed, if you want to do it by yourself. I'll be glad to see my nickname in list, but it's not critical. I just want to see this mod working in way, described above... or close to this way. And if you don't like this idea... well, you're free to pass through and look for something more interesting.
  2. Not much optimistic... uh... actually, you've just burned many peoples hope on the bright future... Though, i have few familiar forum administrators, some of them told me that they have number of modifications (and even written by themself), so they can made PhPBB3 forum engine, nearly match PhPBB5 engine (or something like that). I don't understand very much in this things, but it sounds impressive. And make me think that PhPBB engine (3 or 5, no matter) is very flexible. I'm not arguing (it needs much more knowlege for me to argue), but... is there absolutely no possibilities to make at least something similar to my idea... or maybe not similar, but something that will fully or partially solve PM spamming problem, on current software? Umm... of course, if this possible but will require thousands human/hours of work, it's not those droids... um, possibility we are looking for. About forum... maybe it's just need to start? Place a foundation? I believe that if you will get started building a new forum, there will be many good people who will voluteer to help... Because Nexusmods already built very strong and friendly community. P.s. Sorry if all this talking sounds stupid... But someone needs to ask stupid questions, so others won't have to.
  3. Hey, DDProd. Actually this idea was born in my mind, thanks to you and Elianora. Your conversation with Eli in your awesome "Get to know your mod Author" interview has inspired me to think about this problem.
  4. There's common problem of nearly all popular mods authors (MA's): hundreds and thousands of fans or just mod users (MU's) wants to tell about their feelings, report issue, request improvement etc. with no other way than personally. So MA's PM section will be flooded with messages used to be in comment section of mod. Usually in this case MA's are closing their PM section. It prevents their PMs from being flooded, but it also prevents them from sending messages to other MA's. I'm suggesting two variants of this problem solution. Both of them are based on mod's number of endorsements/downloads. This system must detect how many endorsements/downloads someone's mods have, than apply filter to this user and decide whether he/she can or can't send message to MA. Filter must be customizable, so MA can choose which parameter he/she want to filter (endorsments or downloads) and threshold value to separate sections. For example 100, 200, 500, 1000 for endorsements, while filter counts endorsments from all users mods, no matter for which game. 1. Mod Authors PM section, completely independent from general PM section. - This variant more preferrable, because it will allow to separate talking with MA's from talking with MU's without blocking the whole PM section. But theres another side - i think it will take a lot of work and time to make another independent PM section, i.e. it can be pretty much expensive for Nexusmods. 2. Filter for general PM section. - This variant will allow simply cut MU's from MA's PM section, while he/she still will be able to talk to another MA's. This variant isn't so convenient, but much easier to make, i think. I hope i've described my idea not too much chaotic, so everybody can understand what do i want. And of course i'm very interested about what does people think about this idea - i'm open for reasonable criticism. P.s. I've made it not for myself, because i'm not uploading my own mod's to Nexus or anywhere else (with rare exception), so, obviously, i will be recognized by this filters as mods user. But i hope this filters can be useful for popular MA's. Added: Theres few different thoughts about second variant (filter): 2.1. Make it possible to close PM section for all except friends 2.2. Allow user to make his/her own list of those "VIP's" who can send PM's to this user. Don't know if this function already exist or not - i actually never used possibility to close my PM section. So if not - let this will be additional variants. If yes - scratch this.
  5. Sometimes, modding is more interesting than playing.
  6. I would like to see in game those guns: AKM AKS-U PKP "Pecheneg" (or PKM at least) RPD PP-19 "Bizon" AS "Val" VSS "Vintorez" VSK (.50 cal anti-armor version of VSS) SVU-A SVD RG-6 "Bulldog" (6-round revolver grenade launcher) RPG-7 (how it ever can be game with guns but without this marvel?) I think when GECK will arrive it'll be possible to make even underbarrel GL's like GP-30, GP-40 and M203. Also i'd like to see "T" shaped reflex sights. P.s. Yep.. It's all Russian guns... because i love it... and because i'm patriot.
  7. Looked at it yesterday. It's a good variant if you need wood, not care about immersion. It's still not much realistic... and not much balanced... place 10-30 of this farm-trees, and you'll have tons of wood every day or two without any effort even with 5 wood per tree option. Multiply this with 10-15 settlements and you'll be able to bury entire commonwealth under wood.
  8. I was thinking about it too. I think it's possible to make trees like iron/silver/gold/corundum/etc. mines in Skyrim. So 3 hits by Woodcutters axe and we have 1 wood from tree. Different trees will have from 10 to 30 wood in them and will reset in 30-60 days if theres some wood left in tree, and will completly disappear if you cut all wood from it. In this case gathering wood from trees will be free for caps, but a little bit expensive in time (not so much expensive if you order your companion to help you ;D ). More than that. It's the way to make more immersive scrapping. Make trees not scrappable with workshop, but... order your settlers to cut some tree and they will do it in few hours, providing wood to your settlement. I think it would be pretty balanced and immersive.
  9. Hey everyone. I was thinking "Why jetpack does consume AP? Is that some kind of fuel?". The short answer is "No'. AP is something like stamina, not rocket fuel. So jetpack must be powered by flamer fuel, or at least fusion cores (but like AP, fusion cores doesn't provide reactive force). Or even better: craft Jet Fuel of some oil and flamer fuel. Surprisingly didn't find anything like this on Nexus or its forums. I'm not big on modding (actually didn't even see FO4Edit) so i'm came here. I'll be glad if someone will make JetPack more realistic.
  10. Two-factor authentification is awesome idea. It would be great if every significant changes in users profile will request confirmation code sent to users phone. But for authorization - i think it will be enough to ask confirmation code when user's IP differs too much (other region) from his usual IP. Anyway i glad that this crisis passed.
