  1. Wow, very exciting! Looking forward to playing this. So much commitment from their team. Just fantastic.
  2. In response to post #39667145. This is a good way to foster harmonious relationships and hopefully break through some of the us vs them nonsense that has been going on as well. Great idea :)
  3. This sounds like a really good feature. Especially for those of us still learning. Nice work.
  4. In response to post #39525245. #39528920, #39529290, #39529630, #39533865, #39542225, #39543125, #39543345, #39543435, #39544400, #39545515 are all replies on the same post. I have to agree, over censoring anyone's comments is detrimental to the debate (unless they are just outright nasty insults etc). As much as I don't agree with a thing he said, the dialog we have now is going to set the tone for how this is handled long term. There are vocal extremists on both sides of the argument, but this isn't going to be solved by those people because they wont stop "shouting" at each other. If we (those of us opposed to mod theft) want to talk about ethics then we need to behave in an ethical way and lead by example. I am tired of justifications for mod theft. I am tired of "PC Master Race". I am tired of the antagonistic rudeness instead of open conversation. This is what will make mod authors walk away. Probably not your die hard, highly skilled authors but those of us who do small things just for fun, to join in, be part of the community and share. It's the middle ground in this debate who will just get tired and walk away from all of it.
  5. @DrakeTheDragon Your response to Boomerizer really captures the essence of what is going on. I really struggle to understand how people can defend theft of any sort. However well presented your facts are though, you are right in that you will never change some people's attitudes. I would just like to point out, as you have touched on mod authors' motivation, as well as a couple of other people: Mod Authors do actually publish some mods with the community foremost in their minds, not just as an afterthought. Particularly those people developing mods that fix broken quests/mechanics and improve general usability. Some mod authors very much care about giving to the community and benefiting others at the development stage of their mods, so I don't agree that people mod just for themselves first and others second. I have made a couple of minor mods for Skyrim and only one so far for Fallout 4 so the following doesn't apply to me however I just want to point out the other thing mod theft costs some authors is their reputation. There are some very well know authors and it does put their reputation on the line when uncontrolled, out dated rip offs of their works is spread all around the place. This does have the potential to have impacts on employment opportunities, damage to trust built over years, damage to existing professional reputation for people who work in the industry and mod in their spare time etc. Bethesda aside, this is probably the saddest thing in all of this. That everyday human beings can't be decent enough to each other to say "please" and "thank you". Instead it's just "give me or I'm gonna take it anyway!" (edited for spelling because it's 1am here and I'm brain dead)

I play this on PC, my husband on PS4 so I personally don't have an issue with mods for consoles. I understand very well why some people prefer consoles and there are games I prefer to play (or can only play on console). I don't go in for the whole "PC Master Race" nonsense. If I want to play a Final Fantasy game on Playstation, I damn well will. I won't suddenly be overcome with shame because "oh my god, a console!". That said I love my PC to bits and play several single player and MMO's with it. These divisions are artificial and created out of a need to be part of an "in-group". That said, I can see how modding for consoles may be a bit more time consuming, beyond the need as some have pointed out, to own both the console and a PC to create the mods. I can currently make a mod on PC and test it straight away without having to faff around transferring it to console, testing it, switching back to PC to troubleshoot etc

I don't think it's a god complex. I think it's more of a case of people are tired of the blatant sense of entitlement among some members of the gaming "community" (as reflected by your attitude). It's the same attitude you see on various forums where people are demanding, not asking, devs for this, that and the next thing. Claiming they know better than anyone else and basically being a selfish keyboard warrior. People who spend hours making content for others to enjoy at least deserve to be acknowledged and decide where, when and how their content is used. Otherwise what I can see happening is people breaking off into smaller, closed modding guilds/groups and just producing content for a close knit community they know they can trust. I guess it's a case of "don't bite the hand that feeds you".
  8. Sorry guys the max download speed I seem to be hitting is about 160kb/s. I actually thought there was an issue with my internet connection but then came across this article. This is such a great site, I hope you are able to resolve the issues soon.
  9. In response to post #7968900. #7968919 is also a reply to the same post. Thank you, talk about not seeing what's right in front of you :)
  10. Hello, I'm not sure if it has gone missing or was never there but at the bottom of the main page on Nexus Sites (where links to other Nexus pages are listed) there is no link to Fallout New Vegas. Fallout 3 is there. Should it be there or am I looking in the wrong place? Has it dropped off with the upgrade? Thanks for the info.
