FPS lag skip when roaming around the map.

Hello, I got my new hard drive, and reinstalled Skyrim, I got on my horse, when I was outside a town and on the main map. As I was riding, the FPS dropped from a perfect 60 to 50 all of the sudden, and it skipped about half a second. I have been getting headaches because of it, and do not like leaving any town because of it :3.

I noticed when I was riding, that when the map "loads" like the textures and objects/things appear, the 10 FPS drop occurs. I am running skyrim on max with like 30 mods, that just improve some dirty textures, but nothing major at all. I always get constant 60, except when in some of the major towns like Whiterun, because it drops to 35 sometimes, for a few seconds and that annoys me, but I do not really care because it is mostly 60.

My Specs:

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Vishera @4.0 GHz (@4.2 factory boost)

GPU: GTX 670 FTW+ edition.

RAM: 16gb RAM (4 sticks) @1600Mhz

All the temperatures are fine, no crashed, just this really annoying lag spike. -.-

I'm guessing

1. Your horse is going faster than default

and

2. You have mods that increase the level of detail, number of critters/NPCs, increased lighting or other effects?

(it's a safe bet since most of are...)

Skyrim was designed to handle the default of everything, no more. The lag is caused perhaps in part by you arriving places before the game engine had time to load, and/or you giving the game engine more to load.

The easiest fix is to limit your fps. You might find a game limited to 50 or 55 fps is much more pleasant than a game that skips between 40 and 60.

IMO, of course!
