  1. In response to post #24672854. #24672944 is also a reply to the same post. Seems like we could all avoid this by donating to the mods we love the most, so 100% goes to the mod author. People keep talking about how mods should be free, that mod authors aren't entitled o compensation, that they should do it for love, or experience or whatever. Maybe that is so, but how many do it because they "love" to spend hours a day answering questions from users who don't even bother to read their readmes? Or making their mods compatible with other mods that the author has no intention of using? For the big, popular mods their is a lot more that goes into it than just the fun of creating a mod. The donation model focuses not on mod authors' entitlement, but rather on what we, as mod users are willing to give to help the authors continue their work. It is a partnership. It only works it we actually do it, and let go of ideas about our own entitlement. It doesn't have to be every mod. There are plenty of mod authors out there (myself included) that don't accept donations. But don't you think your 200-mod game is worth at least the cost of a Bethesda DLC? Is a dollar or two to your top 10 or 20 mods really too much to devote to the support of a community that has provided you with so much enjoyment?
  2. In response to post #24593024. #24593174, #24593264 are all replies on the same post. I believe people who mod are artists who are creating in a particular medium. Donating to modders is like paying a street musician--sure, you could get it for free, but if it is beautiful and/or improved your day, then the money will help encourage them to keep doing it and adds to the benefit of yourself and the community.
  3. It seems to me that the best defense against this would be for users to quickly and broadly donate to their most appreciated nexus modders here. Even 50 cents or a dollar from multiple people might make a difference. Especially in the case of "must-have" mods, whose authors appear to be actively courted by steam. I read a lot of posts here saying "no way I'm going to pay" but what if your choice is really "pay something somewhere or don't get use use the best mods?" Wouldn't you rather pay a little, here on the nexus, knowing it will all go to the mod author and also support this site and the principle of voluntary contributions? Anyway, I'm off to put my money where my mouth is. Also, for people looking for any ulterior motive from me--yes, I do have a little mod and no, I do not accept donations or ever plan to.
  4. My suggestion is that you fix all the messages in your loot log--not just the mods that need cleaning, but the missing compatibility patches, everything. Those are really important messages and should not be ignored, with rare exceptions. Also, it you have a bunch of saves in your save file, clean out most of them. I also recommend not using anything except full saves. Auto and quick saves increase the chance of save file corruption.
  5. If you started Skyrim from the steam launch, it may have rewritten your .ini files. If you made a backup copy of your personalized .ini files, then you may be able to simply replace it. If you use the Stream workshop for any mods, the problem could be related to an update or even removal of a mod overwriting your game. (I don't know any fix for this except to start over and avoid the workshop) If you have updated your graphics card drivers, you may need to make some tweaks on the control panel. Otherwise, it sucks but it looks like you have already spent days trying to fix your problem--it may be more efficient just to start over--did you make the baseline backup as the STEP guide instructs? That would speed the process up quite a bit.
  6. Running your GPU at an average 90C is very inadvisable. I would hazard that your crashes are related to your overclocking and stress on your hardware.
  7. Yes, you use the other mod as a master, and make it a requirement for people to load that mod before yours. There is an old thread on this, here, that may help you. Just remember also that if you are actually including any resources from another mod author in your mod you will need explicit permission from the mod author to do so.
  8. hey, so I feel bad that all of your caffeine-fueled enthusiasm is passing without comment. That said, I am not up to helping with your idea atm, as I am overwhelmed with real life obligations. I do think that what you describe might be quite useful. Unfortunately, there are already some pretty simple-to-follow instructions on troubleshooting available. The problem seems to be that a good number of folks don't want to solve their problem, they want someone to solve it for them, thus they make no effort to investigate any available resources before posting their issue in all caps. (OK, so I haven't had my coffee yet, I'm still feeling quite bitter...) Props to you, dude, though. Great idea and good luck!
  9. Hi, I think the problem may be the location of your folder. Mine is in common\skyrim\data\skse\plugins Hope that helps!
  10. Hi, I don't use Open Cities, but a quick look at the mod page reveals very specific information related to installation (including required patches for things like inconsequential NPCs) and uninstallation in the readme. I suggest you read through all of that and make sure to follow the instructions precisely.
  11. Many mods should not be added until after the Helgen sequence. Mods should also not be added all at once. I suggest you have a good look at Gopher's begging mod video series for how to properly set up a modded game.
  12. Maybe try reading/following the instructions on this pinned thread from the mod troubleshooting board. The pinned thread on this board "only you can prevent forest fires" also has a bunch of info that may help you.
  13. You need to read some basic modding tutorials and watch gophers beginning modder's series, This link will get you started.
  14. I suggest you have a look at the STEP guide-- Particularly the part about reverting to a clean vanilla skyrim (in order to make sure you have a clean canvas and your problem is not related to any old corrupting influences) and the basic installation instructions.
  15. It is probably related to your mods--how you have installed them or ordered them. There are pinned threads at the top of this forum board and also the mod troubleshooting forum board that instruct how to identify and fix a mod problem, and how to ask for help if your attempts to fix the problem fail.
