First, try avoiding double-posts.

 

Second, my recommendation with the unknowns is that you list them on BOSS's Bethsoft forum topic, preferably with a description of what the mod does and/or a link to the mod, so that it can be added to a future version of the masterlist. It will probably take less than a week or two to get added. As for me, I have never seen any of those mods before so I can't really recommend an optimal load order for them.

 

As for the mods that were recognised, I spotted a few problems:

HrmnsOblivionScriptOptimizationv1.0.esp

I recommend that you remove this. The performance improvement is minuscule and numerous people have reported that it causes bugs.

 

Personality Idles - Modified version.esp

. Bashed Patch tag suggestion: {{BASH:Actors.Anims}}

The version of this mod you have installed recently became outdated. I suggest you get the latest version.

 

Dungeon Actors Have Torches 1.6 CT.esp

Are you sure both of these need to be installed? It looks to me like two seperate languages of the same mod, but I could be wrong.

The masterlist and DR's readme both tell you to use only one Timed block ESP but I see here that you have all three installed. I suggest you delete the two you don't want.

Just to clarify on the Torch mod, a quote from the Readme:

Dungeon Actors Have Torches 1.51 DT

Actors recieve default torch. A mod that edits the default torch will give modded torch to actors inside. Woot indeed!

 

Dungeon Actors Have Torches 1.51 CT

Actors recieve a copy of default torch named Drop Torch. Mods that edit the default torch do not apply to torches given to actors. However, the copied torches in this version count as droppable lit torches.

 

Again you only need to use one, not both.

 

Apparently you're not reading the information provided with the mods you download, instead you're just mindlessly adding files to your Data folder. This is not going to end well for you. But I will offer some suggestions for the mods that are not recognized. Group them according to what they do and place them with similar mods already sorted by BOSS. I.E. Combat mods go with other combat mods, cosmetic with other cosmetics, etc... etc...

I’d greatly appreciate if you would consider add step-by-step instructions on how to use mod management tools such as OBMM, Wyre Bash, or BOSS. And here is why:

As a mods-novice, I’ve searched heatedly on the Internet for tutorials on OBMM, Wyre Bash, or the combined use of OBMM, WB, and BOSS. To my surprise, this kind of information is not too abundant on the Internet. The instructions posted on the software makers’ official sites or included in the software package are too technical and vague at the same time, giving an extremely hard time to new game players like myself. For instance, these are SOME of the questions I have after reading the instructions on several famous authoritative websites/forums:

 

 

In OBMM:

 

1. How do I know whether I should select the “Archive Invalidation” option or not when I add a new mod?

2. OBMM will check if conflicts exist between mods. What should I do if I see conflicts (marked with red text) in the conflict report?

 

In WB:

1. In order to use the Balo feature, do I have to manually assign each mod to a group (i.e. clothing, place, etc) for load order? In my case none of the mods I added will get groups assigned automatically.

2. Bash Patch: This is the most confusing part. If I am adding a new mod for adding a new armor, should I rebuild patch? In addition, when I click on the Rebuild Patch option, should I ALWAYS select the “Merge Patch” option if I want to keep things simple, that is, giving up the advanced feature of individually selecting what features to be imported from mods? If no checkboxes are checked, what is the point of doing a rebuild patch? On the other hand, it seems that the mods who contain new stuff won’t be identified as “mergeable” and thus wouldn’t be “merged” by performing the “Merge Patch” option under “Rebuild Patch”.

 

Ultimately my question becomes how to use the Bash Patch for various kinds of mods, I guess.

 

These kinds of "Idiot's Series: How to use TES 4 Mod Managers" is in high demand and currently no supply exists whatsoever. Would you be able to help those of us who are struggling on these issues?

Hear, Hear! I totally agree. I can barely use OBMM to get by, leave well enough alone is my motto, all those features and tools in OBMM are 'Greek' to me, and Wrye Bash is for the programmer savvy and software proficient. So an Idiots Guide to both is greatly needed.

Unfortunately, some things require some study in order to understand. Wrye Bash is very very robust and can be confusing even to those that have used it a little while due to all that it is capable of. There is a site that Wrye directs you to from it's readme that has a step by step instruction guide for those that just want to be able to get mods to work and nothing else. I will find the URL and post it shortly. As far as the bashed patch, I may be doing it wrong, but when I install a mod I open the dialog to rebuild the patch to see if anything is new in it that needs to have a tic mark. If I find nothing new, I cancel out and leave it alone. If however I find that there was something new after installing a mod, then I rebuild the patch.

 

OBMM and archive invalidation only needs to be done once, and it is recommended that it be done when you install your first mod so that you don't have to worry about it any more. As far as checking for conflicts, that all depends on what you have installed and what you want working. Oblivion looks at the load order as a soft of transparency map. If viewed from the bottom up, anything that isn't covered on the bottom allows the game to see to the next mod up the list. If that mod doesn't cover it, then it is allowed to see further up the list until finally it seems the base game files if nothing has changed anything in that area. As an example, if you put an armor mod into the game followed by a skin replacer mod followed by a weapon mod and finally followed by another skin replacer this is what Oblivion would see: Skin replacer first, weapon mod, armor mod.

Quite frankly, the guide is a "how to prevent/reduce bugs and crashes" guide, not a "how to install mods" guide.

 

For mod managing, I do not recommend the use of Oblivion Mod Manager. It's main flaw is that it handles resource conflicts very badly. As a result, I only ever use it to install shader mods and manipulate BSAs and even then, I'm hoping for the release of tools that will replace those. As for Wrye Bash, I heavily recommend learning how to use that for installing mods. It is simply the superior tool. As for guides, there are plenty of those for Wrye Bash. In particular, I hear that Alternity's Pictorial guide is one of the best available.

 

Otherwise, I am now playing Skyrim and will probably write a guide for that sometime in the future. Honestly though, I think Bethesda have done an excellent job and it is my personal opinion that Skyrim performs better and is more stable than Oblivion or either of the two latest Fallout games.

EDIT: I found the problems. Here's are the fixes. It took months of research to find the correct fixes.

 

Crash on exterior <-> interior:

Turn off bloom lightning and Anti-Aliasing

 

Save game corruption and many other crashes:

Remove Keychain mod(v5.00)
