Crash at Jefferson Memorial

Recommended Posts

Well I got Broken Steel and it worked fine and I got through the entire thing without a problem.

OK, so then I decided I'd do the side quests. Tried to go to the Jefferson memorial but it CTD.

So I did the fallowing

-manually walked their, but when I get close enough to it it CTD

-removed ALL mods and still CTD

-reinstalled and did fake patch, patch 1.1, and un official patch and still CTD

-reinstalled, turned off all mods AND Broken steel and still CTD when I go to the Jefferson memorial

-I can enter the jefferson memorial by means of cheat codes, but it seems the problem is the outside of the memorial because when I exit it CTD..

Have you tried to disable the auto save function? Might be a save buck, and so you would be able to leave it.

Sometimes you need to be killed to save again.

And already tried to load an earlier save game?

I'll try and disable auto-save

but yeah, I did try previous saves. 1 before I started the first quest for Broken Steel. Another in the middle, and one at the end.

EDIT: Nope it seems even if I turn off auto-save I still crash there.

You might have already done it, but all your esps are unchecked, patch 1.5 is installed...

You run only the Broken Steel DLC?

and, sometimes mods consits of other data.

So, you should also switch your binvalidateolderfiles enty in your Fallout.in from 1 to 0

Best thing is to delete all files in my documents\my games\fallout 3\ except your save

Don't worry, the *.inis will be restored.

Run the game first without changing anything at the *.ini and disable all mods

If it doesn't work, reinstall you game like this:

1. Uninstall Fallout3 in your System Control

2. There are two folders left: Game Dir & My Games folder -> delete or rename them to backup

-> Be careful with your backed up data, avoid using old *.ini files

§. Clean registry (e.g. by CCleaner or RegCleaner) & defrag your hard drive

4. Reboot

5. Install Fallout3

6. Install the latest Patch which fits to your Game version (avoid Patch 1.5 if you want)

This should work.

Otherwise the problem might be your save game

AHHH it didn't work. I re-installed it and cleaned house like you said, but still.

I even re did take it back with no mods and with the regular game launcher. It must be something that the game adds at the Jefferson Memorial after you start Broken Steel.
