  1. I tried it once after the first versions were released and as far as I remember it was just like a lightweight debian with includes Steam client. If you are just focused on gaming and don't want to bother too much with linux, this might haved worked. However as TheGreatFalro already said, as a linux user, you'd prefere to have your favourite distro and just install steam there. (For the interested I'd recomment to use Manjaro, Fedora, Debian or Suse, since other distros like Arch Linux or Gentoo are not that user friendly.) To quote https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Steam_under_Linux
  2. Being half pessimist, half optimist, I do not believe that there could be a way out without having a thermo nuclear world war. The pessimist says, nothing would change. The optimist says, well maybe sth unexpected might happen. The current system just works and there are way too many supporting it. Is there sth which could be considered a viable option?
  3. In my opinion Clinton and the establ.... err, her gang, cheated the election by booting out Sanders. Not sure if this is sth considered legal in the US, however most media doesn't reallty seem to care about it. If that would be true, NOT the one who hacked the emails (and as a result uncovering that "tiny conspiacy thing going on" to cut out the candidates who could get elected as well) did manipulate the election. The person in question would be the one who drove out Sanders from a democratic election. Or didn't it? If I got this wrong, please correct me. I'm neither an expert in US laws nor did I follow the entire media discussion. So that whole accusation to the hacker, who ever they are, seems to be a spin just to distract the attention from Clinton. Who is the bad guy: a) Someone who made some mouthy announcements, most likely being a poser, didn't do anything yet, but said that he WOULD do strange things or b) someone who actually DID nasty things already or c) someone who made said nasty things public? d) someone else Also, you'll as yourself who was in charge for the circumstances that on election day, there was only one choice left: to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea. Who was responsible for that? a) Clinton b) Trump c) "The Hacker" d) someone else In my opinion there are those two questions to answer. Just ask your self and try to be impartial. So personally, I for myself, I do know who is worse. (Given my presumtions are right)
  4. There are quite a lot of folks lately reporting problems with menus. This might be a hud/ui mod causing this.
  5. I have never heard of such a menu bug. Maybe there's a mod that changes the hud or menus you once installed and forgot to remove completely. There can be left over that make trouble. Edit Other things that may play a role: - Anti Virus Software can interfere with running software - Hardware-Issues, the Mouse can be broken. (Already had myself weird computer crashes with reboot which I never would have blamed to the mouse.) - What’s your Operating system anyway? - Did you clean your entire install dir before you did reinstall the game already? At least the game has not been officially patched since a while ago, so everything else around the game that may have changed is in question. You can open a powershell or cmd and type in "eventvwr" and hit enter. This open the eventviewer. You may see errors around the time the issue occurs. Beyond that, remember to always do what the rabbit said.
  6. That's indeed interesting in regards of game performance. However, if you compare other tests, an i7-4790k is remarkable faster than the i7-5775c. http://www.technikaffe.de/cpu_vergleich-intel_core_i7_4790k-411-vs-intel_core_i7_5775c-528 The most prominent feature of the 5775c is its powerful iGPU. In this regards, the i7-5775c is a very good choice if you don't want to use a dedicated GPU. It however does not support DirectX 12. The gaming comparison is interesting and somewhat surprising. Since the i7-5775c still is quite expensive I wouldn’t exactly favour it over another chip in this category just because of that few fps. – unless I’m interested in having a strong iGPU performance while not being interested in DirectX 12 on the other hand. It still is a very good CPU after all. It is a very good balance between power, graphics and energy consumption. Would be very interesting for strong office PCs and according to your linked tests, it has very good gaming capabilities as well (the iGPU of cause does not really cope with a dedicated one). So yes, it is a processor one can buy. One also could buy an i5. Those are not that expensive and usually just don't feature hyperthreading, which is not so important for gaming as well. If I remember correctly, there were tests that pointed out that hyperthreading could even lead to slightly worse gaming performance. (Don't know what's left from this findings today.) However, hyperthreading absolutely is a valuable feature in other regards and can give a huge advantage in rendering videos or whatnot. (I'm not telling this for you, you probably already know that. It might be interesting for folks which is not so informed about chip features and why they could need them or not.)
  7. Yep, most links of the tes-wiki are brocken. To make it worse, tutorials and linked images are affected, like so: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php?title=Basic_Animation_Tutorial Frankly, that's quite a task to fix that stuff. I'm not certain what server they are using, but there should be an automated routine to fix those links. At least linux has the ability to scan through files and find specific expressions. You can pipe and probably replace it.
  8. Hello there, I recently started modding again and noticed, that some wiki pages seems to lose information. For example the effect entries: http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php?title=ScriptEffectUpdate Okay, almost nothing there, it links to the TES-Wiki: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php?title=Constwiki/index.php/ScriptEffectUpdate No text either. As far as I remember there was a page at least in 2013 with relevant information, now it seems to be gone. All effect block information is gone. What's happening in Kyrandia? The hand of fait strikes yet again? Edit: Apparently just the links are corrupted http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php?title=ScriptEffectUpdate So if some of you folks wonder where the information is gone, use the elderscrolls wikis search function, not the links from the GECK wiki.
  9. Okay, found out. I used the wrong Actor Effect type. Basic operations: 1. Creating a Base Effect. 2. Creating an Actor Effect. 3. Adding the Base Effect to the Actor Effect. 4. Creating a Quest script that adds or removes the effect to/from the player by using "Player.Addspel ActorEffect" and "Player.Dispel ActorEffect".
  10. Thank you for the hints. Tracking if the weather is active and quest is no problem and already implemented. I can give a go looking how others solve it. My problem is adding an effect by quests. I remember fiddling around with it years ago. I already did effects myself somewhere, but it has gone lost. Something I'm doing wrong or didn't understand the basics right (effect begin blocks, effect types or whatnot). Now I thought someone has a quick answer for my vague question, like 1., 2., 3... I do not need a detailed solution, just a few hint on the basics. I'll poke a bit around. Thanks for the input. :-)
  11. Frankly, that the i7-5775C is outpacing an i7-6700k doesn't make much sense to me. There are differences: http://ark.intel.com/de/compare/88200,88195,88040 Maybe it is in regards of gaming in conjunction with DDR4 and on what the tested games are optimised. However in other tests an i7-6700k outpaces an i7-5775C clearly. http://www.technikaffe.de/cpu_vergleich-intel_core_i7_6700k-518-vs-intel_core_i7_5775c-528 Despite of being energy optimised I for myself would go for a i7-6700T (or a corresponding Xeon because of virtualisation features and ECC support - nothing that would be needed or helping game performance). They still are beast.
  12. I was comparing the power consumption of the high performance CPUs in the consumer branch of AMD and Intel. Of cause there are CPUs which consume less energy than the high performance ones. I for myself am a fan of highly energy efficient CPUs, which however are not predestined for gaming, but for running 24/7. However, a Core i7-4790 Processor for socket FCLGA1150 and DDR3 RAM of cause is an excellent choice for gaming as well.
  13. I didn't fully understand yet how effects work. Currently I'm trying to add an radiation effect to the player while he is in toxic weather. It should add RADs to the player and play the effect sound, like you would camp on contaminated grounds. Somehow, I'm doing it wrong. What would I need to do?
  14. At the moment I would go for a Core i7-6700k CPU. They are powerful and energy efficient. Then you need a motherboard with the socket FCLGA1151. Choose your board based on form factor (ATX, micro ATX etc.) and on features it brings along (connectors, HDMI, LAN, SATA etc.). There are sites where you can filter motherboards by features.
  15. Ah, I see. Didn't know that program. ^^ It's kind of surprising anyway. No thanks needed, didn't do anything. Well, maybe having two heads bashing tears a wall down faster? ;D
