constant CTD in specific areas

I have casm installed, and have autosaves disabled, like it says to do. I've done the multicore ini fix, and I've tried a ton of different things, but I still get obscene amounts of crashes. In specific areas (so far, Rivet City and the area between the Nuka Cola Plant and Marigold Station), I get constant crashes. I walk for about 10 seconds in that area, ctd. I quicksave, ctd. I save with the pause menu, ctd. I save with the console, ctd. It's become unbearable. It first started happening when I went near Rivet City to buy some armor from the camp added by the Scavenger Armors mod. It crashed, so I tried again, and it kept crashing. I tried turning collision off and walking around, but it still crashed. If I tried to save or enter a new place from that area, it would also crash. After hours (I'm pretty persistent), I finally managed to get the armor (player.additem didn't work for some reason), but now I have the same problem on the way to Arlington Library. Same situation. I tried everything. When I fast travel near there, it still crashes after less than a minute.

The Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch is a known to cause ctd around Rivet City. You should use the Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch. However, I have never used it and I have a fairly stable game. You should also place the WMK _ FWE patch after WMK - Zeta.

Since you have quite a few disabled mods, you should remove them from your load order.

I doubt it really matters, but currently, the crashes are taking place near the Red Racer Factory. Also, I managed to get into the factory. Usually it would crash during the load-screen, but I got in and it even let me quicksave. It crashed like 20 seconds later, but I'm still hopeful lol.

A test, Go to megaton town ( ` coc megatontown) go inside the players house. open a locker deposit 20 items only at one time, close the inventory, exit the house, reenter the house and repeat "20 items at a time only. close ,exit, do this untill all add on mods data in your inventory is now gone. once done, fast travel to vault 101, walk down into spring vale and fast travel to rivet city from that spot. It will place you on the deck of the ramp above the points of crash city.

post the results.

@ Purr4Me: Do you mean remove all possible items from my inventory, or only stuff added by mods?

Also, I just remembered something worth noting. When I was near Rivet City, I managed to get to the camp and buy the armor after a while, but it still crashed when I tried to save and it would crash a little while later anyway, if I just tried to leave the area. However, when I left the general area and then dropped the armor from my inventory, it let me save. I then picked the armor back up and saved again, and was on my merry way.

only stuff added by mods?

I'll try to explain whats going on here. Every one out there has these issues from time to time. you are not the first. Every ones issues are not the same so your not alone here.

A descriptive set of events starts with a post of an issue. To us that care enough to help you ,that first post is our only guide line.

With that comes our experience in diagnosing problems Blindfolded. Leave out small details can hurt the results.

here, it does not matter as I was made aware by the post of the many mods you have running. of them, I know what has bugs and what does not. Of them, and what you have done, I do NOT know.

to match this with something similar to this problem. Consistent crashing: I can show to an item, study the item and tell me what you see or rather Don't see?

http://imageshack.com/a/img196/7310/i49h.jpg

In this shot points to a UN -Seen set of circumstances set in motions. some systems will not crash and play nice. most don't, but this applies to your bug or problem as it is a shared type of thing that is over looked, until I look for the unseen.

what do you see wrong in this picture?

I will try to explain whats wrong in that shot. The mesh file is opened up, that is the data that puts the texture on the NPC and controls the shape of it and functions of it. It also has a path statement and directive to a texture file...listed as a Helmet . But here ,the path is the default BSA archive of the main game files. the nif file contains NO instructions to make the default Helhm invisible, so, you would see a bucket head wearing an eye piece.

do you see the name of (OCD) in there? I sure don't, I see it for the last one, but not the middle one. The file is not contained in the package for the mod.

Nor is that piece, the actual piece the name refers too "in the main game bsa" it is a custom made texture and it is NOT an Bos helmet, but you would not know this, all you see is a name of the file. so the data is not there, in this instance and the game just freezes up because the script calling up the mesh and in turn is calling up the texture gets caught into a loop, because the game will not stop until the ram is all used up trying to post something not even there in the first place. No esp can over ride a mesh file. A mesh file can and will override any instruction outside of it. If I rename (a) mesh that controls your bugged up mesh from another item not the same I can put a car on your head and the NPC will wear a car for a hat, but the hat file name say's hat, whats inside the hat file is a car ...not a hat. <----just an example. So, if the mod author od a mod makes a simple minor mistake , even like this one, things get broken. A new game, there is a lot of ram available, but as you gain in XP and accomplishments, you run out of ram.

In the other pictured window shows the mods path, file name path where you see the main mods name, and inside of it, are all the instructions for the data to be used.

OCD is the folder missing for that one item and so is the item it's self. The game, if you have a ton of mods installed, may and some times will try to use other textures that might work, I am sure you have seen this, rock, roads, color galore, weird things get displayed. The game won't crash if it can find at least something to use. but if it cant !? well we have your post here. "HELP !", I don't know whats going on....

so we had this little chat. with at massive load of mods, I bet there are a lot of missing elements about in the folders, Or damaged files WINDOWS destroyed on you, it does that too. file corruption is ..sneaky. But if you Eliminate all impassibility of any bad data being carried around, this narrows the field down a bit. The kill your self trick is a ram dump, that's all it is, and it is also a game reset. The game can and some times rips data from your play through. Corrupts the saved game. If you die in cyber space, you die, and start over a new. only in a havoc game, the way this one is built, you are allowed to chose any path you like. It's not linear. But it is scripted and scripts can be broken.

Dump all your stuff in a safe place. Kill your self to dump the loaded data and check to see if the stuff remained. leave it and continue.
