Rise of Ouroboros: Crusade

Or perhaps instead of being a city, it could be some sort of large temple complex, with one large temple in the center, built around the old shrine. I would recommend using a Vivec-type architecture, having the temple in the middle, with a large chamber surrounding the statue, but all around that could be a type of palace, with a large throne room in the back. Instead of having walls, it could have large watchtowers in several areas, and a couple smaller temple-looking strucures used as the residencies. A large barracks/armory would have a large array of weapons, both Tamrielic and Daedric.

I have an idea for the name of the city. "Domo Tempus", which is Latin for "The home of Time". If that's a little too predicable, another translation is "Domo Vicis".

Shouldn't it be "Domus Temporis"? If I'm not mistaken, "Domo Tempus" would translate to "The Time of House". Besides, "domo" is no genitive, so it can't indicate ownership. :confused:

(I'm not sure about this. I wish I had payed more attention during Latin class. :P)

"Domi" isn't correct either. It should be "domus" because it's a word from the fourth group (not sure what it's called in English :P Probably something else):

domus

domus

domui

domum

domo

domus

domorum

domibus

domos

domibus

not like "servus":

servus

servi

servo

servum

servo

servi

servorum

servis

servos

servis

[EDIT]Okay I just checked this. According to my dictionary:

"Filia (< nominative) Latonae (< genitive) servos necat." = The daughter of Latona kills the slaves.

Therefore, it should be "Domus (< nominative) Temporis (< genitive)". A genitive isn't a nominative.

[EDIT]Also, may I suggest "Math av La"? It also means "Home of Time", but this is Ayleid. :D Or "Math av Laloria": Home of Dark Times.

Actually, in the case of Domus, it is. But I've studied Latin for six years, and having just checked my grammar book (ablative absolute), I've discovered that the genitive case means "the ---- of". Such as "The girl of the farmer" is Puellae agricola. Therefore the actual translation would be "Domus(genitive) Tempus(nominative)", as it is THE House OF Time. But I like the ayleid version better.

Ah well if your grammar books says that it's got to be right. :)

One thing about the Ayleid name though, I forgot the "-e" suffix. It should be "Math av Lae" and "Math av Laloriae".

Of course I'm not 100% of this as there aren't many recorded grammatical rules. :)

@The latin grammatical discussion above

So... what was the correct form then? I like it,

but I can't really figure out which one it is.

@andy12750

I like the idea of a large Vivec-like complex,

but that would be an extra tileset to be made.

I was thinking, since Ealdor is a Telvanni, that perhaps

we might use this excellent Telvanni tileset for some of the

architecture: Link

Also, I was thinking that perhaps the initial shrine location will

be in Nirn, but the new city would be in a new plane, sort of like

SI. That way we avoid any conflicts with mods that change the

landscape in some way.

The shrine is where people go to worship Ouroboros,

and once they've gotten on his good side he will allow

them to take a place in his city. So his faithful followers

are sure to be protected, and must prove themselves

by enduring the possibility of Azura's minions killing them.

@MetalRuination

I appreciate your efforts, but I just can't make out the letters

very well in the one you've made. (I'm a little colorblind) So,

I think we'll just use my old one.

Thank you for trying, though.

Ah, good. Domus Tempus, it is then.

Also, anyone who chooses to use the sig could you

please make it link to the first page of this thread?

Just make a normal URL link and then paste the image

code where the text would be (took me a while to figure it out).

@andy1275... again

I do like the idea of the layout you describe.

While I do think the temple should be at the center of the city,

I intend for the player to become the count/baron of the city and

part of the final reward is having your own castle with your own

guards, dungeon, and lots and lots of stuff to display.
