How to Enhance Oblivion

Planning to buy Oblivion.
Is it playable after Skyrim? If skyrim was not perfect. I am afraid what oblivion is. Also non-schoolboys say, that oblivion is sh*t even by 2006 year standarts and has a very boring plot, identical quests, terrible gameplay and awful graphics even for 2006 (compared to Bioshock 2007)

Do anyone know how to fix this game? Does it deserve to be fixed?

SkyUi-like mod? Retextures? Models&textures of trees, npc, buildings, static meshes from Skyrim? Dialogue system like in Skyrim? Better animations? Better NPC AI ? Weather mods? Enb? Good immersion mods?

Everybody has their own opinion. Mine:

To get an idea of how the game can look, you might want to view some of the pictues in Image Share.

For what you will have to pay for GOTY Oblivion, it is well worth the price... about $20. Some of us are playing it

again after Skyrim because, like one person said, "Skyrim might be a nice to visit, but Cyrodiil will always be home."

Granted, the graphics are not as well done as Skyrim, but there are plenty of retextures, weather, immersion,

quests, new lands, magic, weapons, clothing, body type mods, character face mods, etc.

You might want to browse the categories and top lists of mods. A number of people that have done mods

for Skyrim also did them for Oblivion. As per recommending mods, well, we all have our own tastes.

First time I played, I did the quests for the various guilds, along with some misc ones, before I got too

involved with the main quest.

EDIT: One thing I would suggest is Wyre Bash. Makes installing and removing mods with lots of textures

and meshes much easier

Oblivion is very playable...before or after Skyrim. Many in fact have returned after Skyrim. As far as I can see there is nothing terrible about the gameplay. While Oblivion suffered in some development areas...many things left unfinished upon release, that is precisely why it is so very moddable. And keep in mind that many of the wonderful features in Skyrim were borrowed directly from the efforts of the Oblivion modding community. There are some fantastic mods available that easily make Oblivion equal to Skyrim from a graphics standpoint. And as far as quests go there are more mods for that than you could browse through in several days. There are so many mods available for every aspect of the game you will be restarting several times to try out new things.

Malachai had it right though....when it comes to suggesting good mods we all have our own tastes. I suggest by starting with Top mod lists and File of the Month lists. But mods making those lists aren't automatically the "best" out there. Simply the most popular. There are a great number of fantastic mods not found in the popular lists, and any number of hidden gems out there...you just have to put in some time browsing to find them.

who are these non-fanboys? I wonder who in this world could say that Skyrim is better than oblivion, seen and considered that it lacks of everything, from decent plot to engaging stories - the only thing that saves it is the fact that there is a huge modding community behind it that is trying to fix the whole mess it is. Not to compare Skyrim with morrowind or daggerfall.
LOL

Edit: ~ Ah, it is also loved so much because people on the console would even claim the s*** is gold if it was presented like gold to them ~ - judging by how much Cod is able to sell, no wonders - you just have to release a game that has good graphics and no worries about the substance, it will sell and it will be declared better than everything

look, vanilla oblivion sucks badly. specially when you look back after playing with lots of mods.

start with the unofficial patch, follow with FCOM (greatest thing since sliced bread but not for the faint of heart) then unique landscapes and better cities. the rest is up to you and what your system can handle.

(a tip: get yourself a decent house/castle/abode mod before you start)

and the quests...some of my all time favorites on ANY elder scrolls game are from mods:
"origin of the mages guild"

"kvatch rebuilt"

"lost spires"

in that order
