Massive Lag, Unplayable, 8FPS at best.

Recently it appear that my Fallout New Vegas has stopped working for good, as now all of a sudden the game takes about 3mins (It used to take a few seconds) to start, and when it finally does, my average FPS plummet down to 5-8.

 

While my computer is extremely old and low end, it used to play the game at an steady 45-50 FPS with some stuttering in between.

 

This issue just started happening a few days ago, but so far i have been unable to find a fix for it.

I have tried to use ENB boost (Which worked very nicely for skyrim) and FNV4GB alongside NVSE stutter remover to no avail.

 

My INI settings are on low quality as well, but the issue still persists.

 

My laptop does not shows any signs of overheating or anything of the like, and most games appear to be working relatively well. No other mods have been installed recently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as for now the only option seems to be a clean re-install.

How is every thing else running? Malicious software is not always obvious. And for some reason, the antivirus companies mostly refuse to deal with non virus malware such as toobars, and browser hijackers. There exceptions such as Superantispyware and MalwareBytes. Currently I have been having a lot of luck with a small stand alone app called JRT ( junkware removal tool) You can get it directly from the author's site - http://thisisudax.blogspot.com/2012/09/junkware-removal-tool-jrt-by-thisisu.html :thumbsup:

 

I run it from a usb stick and it takes less than ten minutes to run on my system. Malwarebytes or Superantispyware can take as long as 3 hours and must be installed to run. They are more through than JRT, and because JRT is not resident, you can run JRT with any other antivirus already installed without interference.

 

DO NOT download any software from cnet - they add their own malware to downloads. - Reference: http://www.geek.com/news/nmap-warns-download-com-bundles-malware-with-its-software-1446963/ Whenever possible go to the original author's site for downloading stuff. And still be careful that some piece of trash is not included.

Thanks for the reply.

And so far everything else seems to be running perfectly well, Skyrim and Fallout 3 are running well and rarely stutter, the issue is only with Fallout New Vegas.

 

 

I ran a full PC scan with my antivirus with 0 results, but i will give the app you mention a try.
