Chameleon/Invisibility Viewmodel Change

SImple request, I'm just wondering if there would be a way to change the opacity of my character while invisible/under 100% chameleon to be completely visible, while keeping the invisible effect. I'm asking because I use custom armors that I like, but also enjoy the invisible effect that my armor enchanted with chameleon gives. This would also apply for first-person, allowing the weapon viewmodel to be visible, so I don't have to take a wild guess if my bow is drawn or not.

Well, 1st off it can't be cheating when it's a single player game, there's nobody else you'd be cheating (and the game's AI can't complain ^^).

And 2nd, if I got that right, they're asking for a way to have their character remain completely opaque/visible even while under 100% chameleon effect, but the enemies' inability to notice them should not be touched by it.

Now, while I don't exactly know how it's done, I've already seen multiple different approaches at replacing the chameleon or invisibility shaders for Oblivion in the past, and most important about this, the game's AI does not mind the shaders one bit. You can definitely swap the shaders with ones keeping you visible to you, and at the same time for the AI nothing will change.

But I don't know enough about how these effects are created inside the game to be able to give any definitive response. Your best bet would be browsing around the files on the Oblivion Nexus and trying out the several different chameleon/invisibility effects shader replacements you'll find, and maybe you'll also find one suiting your needs as well already.

Who are you cheating? To cheat there must be at least 2 people involved, the cheater and the cheated. The same person cannot be both.

Since this s a single player game, everyone plays their own way. One may want to play in god mode all of the time and another on extreme difficulty with perma death and having to start over with a new character when they are killed - neither is cheating anyone. Both are having fun playing.

Is using TCL to get out of a place between objects that there is no other way out of caused by a in game bug cheating?

IMO people should play a game however they wish. I choose to play them the way their developers intended, and imo using mods to make them easier qualifies as cheating. A game played in god mode isn't a game, it's a close to rewardless scenery tour.

Use of the console to deal with known bugs is a different matter imo, because bugs obviously aren't a part of the intended game.

As far as I'm concerned people can play their single player games in whatever way they want, and other people have no right or business to judge the way they're playing.

Nobody's harmed when I use a mod that automatically refills my health as soon as it's below a certain threshold (in my case so I can keep testing my projects without ever dying, but that's irrelevant), and if I'm not talking about it online, nobody would even know! It's nobody's business to even tell their opinion about it, as it's likewise nobody's business to even know.

...but that's just me.

However, please let's not keep on beating the already dead and rotten horse all over again about "the way the developers intended". This will never hold any water. The developers "intended" that you're able to use mods for whatever use or abuse you have in mind, or they'd be preventing it. People are causing a fuss over things even the developers themselves would never dare bothering about, claiming to speak for them, while in reality, with all their lies and made-up opinions, they're only harming them. Fact is, people don't know... but speak regardless, making it only blatant lies and bitching.

So, please, no "the way the developers intended" talk anymore. It only makes me puke over its invalidity and inapplicability, and how much the developers themselves would "detest" what was lied about their intentions, would they know.

...hmm, sorry, seems that sentence caused another brain fallout venting from me. It's nothing personal, it's just I've heard it far too often in the past, and always it caused only lots of harm and damage to everyone involved. It's one of my select few "red light", "no go" terms by now and always rubs me wrong. Apologies for the outburst. :ermm:

(Hey, there's an idea! Maybe I should code a simple browser plugin auto-censoring the terms from said list for me, so I'll never know "what" it was they typed and thus will never get riled up about it anymore. It's not like I couldn't do that. It's part of my job to code these after all! And it will definitely help preventing such outbursts at the wrong targets in future as well... yeah, definitely, something worth thinking about.)

Apology accepted. I'm also sorry for the rhetorical question. Obviously this mod would be a cheat, and like all others people would and should have every right to use it without grief from anyone. The post made me recall the water visibility mod, which I used for quite a while until realizing it took virtually all the fun out of exploring water in Oblivion. It's the only point I was trying to raise to the OP.
