Immersive Fast Taxi Travel working title

Description

Taxi cabs (ride-able Caravans whose cargo are people instead of merchandise, they will also vendor food items and ammo) take you to settlements that have Taxi stands, but following the story you will unlock the ability to travel to any map marker. There will be two ways of traveling, first way of traveling will be to ride in the cab and watch the scenery go by in real time, second option is instantly like regular fast travel. You can even talk to them or ask them to tell you stories to pass the time.

The first two places that will have Taxi stands are Bunker Hill, and out side Diamond City. There will be quests, a main story quest, and radiant quests where you can be a body guard for the Taxi cabs. There will also be random encounters while traveling by/with Taxi's, with both types of Travel (Slow and instant). There will be different types of cabs.(One pulled by a brahmin, one pulled by a robot, one pulled by a death claw, one pulled by some rad stags for a Christmas theme, one carried by gen 1 synths, ect. ect.) Probably more to come too.

I'm calling it Immersive Fast Taxi Travel (IFTT), because when I first thought it up I was just calling it Immersive Fast Travel (IFT), then I found out afterward there is already a mod called this. I might call it something else when there is enough to release (At least 1 working Taxi cab) Also I'm aware of a mod that summons a vertibird to pick you up and travel's to where you want to go, which just means I don't need to make one a cab, but I still might anyway.

Notes
So this is essentially my First mod, I am learning the creation kit so this won't be coming out any time soon unfortunately, however since I'm mostly at home taking care of my father who was diagnosed with cancer I have more free time to work on getting this mod done then the average person. If anybody is willing to give advice to help me get this out A.S.A.P. I'm all ears.

That's not bad, I might use that for at least the name of a cab if nothing else. And thanks, luckily he is a gamer so while I'm doing this he spends most of his time playing Warcraft 2 on the PS1.

 

OH! also I've been stuck at a single part of the mod for about a week, I can't seem to get my NPC to escort me anywhere. I thought it would be as simple as

 

step one: create scene with npc

step two: add dialog to scene asking to take player to destination x

step three: run escort package linking to a custom marker at destination x

 

But the npc goes through the dialog, then when i ask him to take me to Diamond City he runs a few feet away then just stops as if he suddenly forgot what he was doing. I even tried to put a condition that the action where he escorts the player to Diamond city must finish before phase 3 can start which has the npc saying "here's diamond city" but of course he never says it. And just in case i made two quest stages, telling him to take the player to diamond city set's the stage to 10, and phase 3 will reset the phase to 0, and the greeting right now has a condition where he won't say anything unless the stage is 0 so when i talk to him after he runs a few feet now, he just ignores me.

 

If anybody at all can help me get past this I'd be grateful.

I really think you should find an even better name. The concept is great, the execution of course remains to be seen, but all in all I think people need to stop calling things "Immersive" in their titles. It's kind of strange, honestly. I mean, let's look at some Skyrim mods, and you'll see what I mean:

 

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15508/? - Better Fast Travel. In this mod, you actually can sit in a real wagon carriage, watch the land unfold beneath you as you immersively travel from hold to hold. Verdict: Super freaking immersive.

 

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64201/? - Skyrim Wayshrines Immersive Fast Travel. This has immersive in the name. But really, it's just some teleporters. It's cool, it's lore friendly, but ultimately? Verdict: Not really all that immersive.

 

So basically.... don't name this immersive. Just try to make it immersive and let the immersiveness follow. The only downside is it becomes less likely MxR will review your mod if you don't name it immersive ;)

LOL yeah I totally agree, I originally just had immersive in the title hoping that once I release a working version MxR might give it exposure, but Immersive fast taxi travel is just a working title, I'm really, really, really not in love with the name so I will probably change the name to something else later, probably based off what ever I call the over all company that "regulates" the taxis. I've used the wayshrine mod before, but I'm really glad someone made one for the carriage, I always wanted to be able to do exactly that in skyrim.

Ok so the other day I figured out what was wrong, or at least a work around. Instead of trying to run the package through the dialogue, attach the package to the npc Ai package with a condition to play when the quest stage reached the appropriate time. My next task is to figure out how to make it repeatable, because once he escorts me to Diamond city i tried to set the parent stage back to the beginning but he doesn't seem to greet me asking if I need a ride. Once I figure out how to reset the quest, then my next goal will to be figuring out how to give the option to teleport to the destination.

A few days ago I figured out how to make the "quest" repeatable, or reset. I haven't been able to update or progress any further on the mod due to medical reasons involving my father, I'm back home now though and should either start working on this again later today or tomorrow. Depending on how tired I am really.

Next Goal is basically fast travel through dialogue.

Oh for those wondering how I accomplished resetting the quest it was as easy as putting in this papyrus fragment in the end quest stage
