Home Mods Over Kill?

First off there are indeed A LOT of great home mods for Skyrim.

Yes, there is a " but ... "

I just saw a new Home Mod and by the looks of it, it too might be in the Whiterun - Riverwood area.

I understand that Whiterun - Riverwood is where the game starts, UNLESS you use the mod that starts the game somewhere else?

Right now, literally the Home Mod Market is in OVERKILL in Whiterun - Riverwood area.

Again, I understand why - see above. But at this point, IF one is going to put yet another home mod in this area, you have to ponder at least these two questions:

1. Does my home mod, offer something that is totally different and unique, above the other GREAT home mods already flooding the market in this area?

2. Does my home really NEED to be there, or would / could it fit in or around:

* Falkreath * Markarth * Solitude * Dawnstar * Winterhold * Windhelm

* Riften * Ivarstead * Shor Stone * Roikstead * Morathal ...

Or .. on the path anywhere on the map to any of the above locations?

One mod creator, last week was sharing his frustration that his home mod was not getting attention at all. It is a fine home mod and he did put A LOT of thought into it.

But ... it was located between Whiterun and Riverwood. I shared the above and he realized that ya, indeed the market there was flooded with some great home mods and thus ... he is going through Skyrim on foot to find what might be a better location?

Just some food for thought. Whiterun - Riverwood Housing Market is FLOODED with homes ....

Respectfully - .. Jj ...

Is the market flooded with house mods? Probably.

Does that matter or should it? Meh. IF one wants to put it there nobody can tell them different.

I agree, but IF they want to at least give their hard work a "shot" ... hopefully this thread gives them something to think about.

Is the Riverwood - Whiterun area the 'best' place to give my home mod a chance?

The answer: NO ... because as stated, just do a search of Home Mods in Whiterun - Riverwood.

I've seen some great home mods - but since they were located in the mentioned 'market place', I honestly do not give them a second thought, because I have a home mod in that area that works and also a few of the Home Mods in that area have a following of some very well named creators ....

Again, not trying to be a P.I.T.A. ... as I shared w/the friend in the OP ... you might do better giving this home mod a new home place somewhere else in Skyrim. :)

Keep in mind we are super early into this release as well. I fell for all the houses that came over shortly after SE hit, and wasted a lot of time checking them out. It seems like the better modders knew to hold off while early bugs were worked out. The stuff that is coming out now is light years ahead of the early stuff, but nothe nearly as good as what is coming. And SKYSE hasn't even hit yet... Check out all the home mods from original Skyrim. In the near future, there will be hundreds of homes all over the map. They just aren't ready to port yet, or more accurately, the game isn't ready for them yet. Most of what you are seeing in SE isn't new, it's simply the more basic stuff from the original that could be quickly updated into SE. So pleading for people not to build in this area is maybe a couple years too late :) But don't worry. Most every really nice spot on the map will have a really well modded player house within the next 6 months as the game patches and script extenders bring it to where the original was in terms of functionality options. Just go download Leveler's Tower in the meantime and forget about all the other house mods you've seen so far...

Moving an abode/building from one location to another is no easy task. All the landscaping has to be redone. This can range from minor to major work.

The point I'm making is that it's one thing to port an abode mod for SSE, but it's an entirely different thing to port the mod then change its location.
