Beta Testers needed for Better Container Controls mod

Are you tired of accidentally taking everything from a container by accident because of the strange mappings of the E and R keys (or A

or X buttons)? Do you get annoyed by the quantity prompt or wish you could put all of your ingredients away with a single command?

Better Container Controls changes the default key and button mappings for the container, barter, and gift menus. It even adds some new options for your convenience. (And works with either the original interface or QD Inventory SSE.)

I also have a Better Console mod that expands the console to full screen, significantly increases the history buffer so you can actually see all of those properties attached to large scripts, more items matching your search, etc. It also adds aliases inspired by the ones from MFG Console.

THE NEW CONTAINER CONTROLS:

  • E is now always Take, Give, or Store (depending on your current view).
  • Alt + E moves all of that item without displaying a quantity prompt.
  • Ctrl + E moves only one of the item even if you have a stack of them.
  • Mouse buttons move items by default or equip them if Shift is pressed.
  • Right-click/Left-equip on a book will read it even from a container.

  • R is now always Take All, Take Most, Give Most, or Store Most.
  • Shift + R or Ctrl + R switches to Take Most mode even for containers
  • Alt + R move even more items than the usual Most options.

The Take All feature from the original game only works for containers. The new Take/Give/Store Most feature works when sharing items with followers or putting items into containers.

Why Most instead of All? You wouldn't want a Give All option when talking to your follower because you will want to keep the clothes and armor you're wearing, your equipped weapons, items you've marked as favorites, your keys, lockpicks, gold, etc.

Books and keys aren't transferred in Most mode unless you're looking at just books or just keys or are holding the Alt key when you press R. Most also won't move items with names that begin with a space or the center dot (·) character, or any other items you configure by name in the bcckeys.cfg file.

If you're interested in helping me test this before release I reply or send me a PM and I'll give you access to the beta release version. I'm hoping to find people who use the keyboard and mouse and also people who use gamepad controllers.

I would love to test this in SSE. I play with a 360 controller, and am not sure if I even could play with KB+Mouse. I started TES & FO games on the Xbox and wehen I moved to PC so I could use mods I stuck with the controller because I had been playing the same games for years with it and didn't want to change to KB+M even though there are a few more options. The only controller mod I use is a remapper that gives me 8 hotkeys on the D-Pad. Pretty much the only time I use the KB and/or mouse is in SkyUI menus (being able to PgDn and PgUp through very long lists is awesome) and with the console.

I would be particularly interested in the scripts you mentioned in the SkyUI thread that 'fix' SkyUI 2.2 for SSE.

Great. I already released the mod and it's at http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5689.

But I haven't heard back from anyone using it with a controller so I would love to know if everything works and if the buttons I chose (L1/LT and R1/RT) for the pickOne and pickAll feature are reasonable choices. Since I don't have a controller those might be very awkward combinations to press. There's also a chance they conflict with button combinations used by SkyUI itself. As a long-time SkyUI user you'll know far better than me what buttons would be best to use as modifiers. There's a configuration file for changing which buttons it uses and if the defaults are horrible then I would love to know what would be better.
