Porting mods from the Steam Workshop

I was wondering if it was at all possible to port mods from the steam workshop to something more NMM friendly.

Subscribe to the mod and download it. Launch the game for it to update. Close game. Go into your data folder, and find the mods esp and possibly the bsa if it has one. Copy the files and paste them into an empty folder on your desktop. Go back to Steam, and unsubscribe from the mod. Launch the game to make sure it has been removed. Exit the game. Go to the new folder you made on the desktop, and rename it to the mods name. Then using 7.zip or winrar compress the folder to an archive file. Go to NMM Click add mod from file, select the 7.zip file you just made. After it has finished adding it, make sure it is activated, and the plugin is checked, go in game and enjoy.

From the way I read it, all he wanted to do was make it so the mod can be loaded into the data folder with NMM instead of using Steam, which we all know can screw things up with unannounced updates.

Especially since the 2K launcher f*#@ed everything?
