The companions give you repeat quests (you can kill a beast as the quest, complete it, and if you do enough quests, they will give you the same 'kill a beast' quest a dozen more times. Several people have reported this problem, including me: The 2nd time I am supposed to kill an escaped criminal (quest ID CR07), my map marker won't find him. I wander around, I can't find him. I can't quit the quest. I can't go on to the next quest for the companions. I tried the console to set the quest stage to complete, it doesn't work. I am stuck. Some people actually wander until they find the criminal and kill him. Others have spawned the criminal and killed him. werty2121 Posted January 13, 2012 Author Share Posted January 13, 2012 I tried that. Maybe this will help... the movetoqt does not work for ANY quest, even the ones that are functioning properly. I tried 'movetoqt' , i tried 'movetoqt CR07', i tried 'movetoqt escaped criminal'... nothing. I never needed to use the movetoqt command before, so I didn't know it was not working. Alas, it still does not work for Escaped criminal. I think the bug is CR07 was already completed before, now the game isn't properly resetting the quest, even though they assigned it to me again. werty2121 Posted January 16, 2012 Author Share Posted January 16, 2012 Solved! Found this on Wiki. You can't use the console to step forward on this quest (CR07 - escaped prisoner). But you CAN use the console to accept another Companions quest. That way you can go on with other quests. The escaped prisoner quest is still listed in your quest lists, but you can just ignore it and play on.For example: I used.... setstage CR01 10 setstage CR01 30 setstage CR01 100 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My quest was on the completed quests list, but still it was on the Kill the criminal stage. I tried 200 and it worked! Now I'm on another search quest with Aela... Belinda55 Posted June 22, 2018 Share Posted June 22, 2018 (edited) I had to give up on this quest and go back to an earlier save because wherever I went the quest marker was somewhere else. The marker was near Windhelm so I went there only to find that it had moved up to somewhere near Dawnstar. So I went there, but it had jumped back to where it was before. And so on.
