Colt Single Action Army .44

Recommended Posts

Hello chaps,

I've got a few days off work and thought I'd finally model a SAA to put into Fallout which I've wanted for about 500 years. Not really into the modding scene so have absolutely no idea how to implement the model or animate it so looking for collaborators if anyone's interested? Don't know if this is the right area to post this either . . .

Some recent personal projects:

@exacerblast

neat!

the more modders/coders the better;

most anywhere's fine to post to chat about stuff.

I'm no pro at FO4 Mod Fu, though I've collab'd with a few folks,

moreso on Bruck Rodgers parts pack, and MiB weapons parts packs,

so to hear more weapons parts packs in the works sounds awesome!

Will you be taking a look at

the Forgotten Weapons Conversion project per chance?

as a .44SP+ load fan, I'm looking forward to more weapons parts packs!

any chance, when you do the bullet-nozzle (the muzzle),

you can do the 2inch snub special? issued to Army Air Aviators,

Magnum PI had that as a side arm for a while,

and burn notice...

since you've got the guitar too,

any chance of an homage to the guitar flamethrower

from Silly Steve: Lucy's Road ?

I also recommend cross posting in the FO4 Mod Creator thread, and mod request if you're wanting to collab.

moddb, thisweekintech, code-stack-exchange, those boards also increase your options for collabs on stuff hehe.

NegoSeth, CarnageFiend, TumbaJamba, Perraine, Shavkacagarikia etc,

they know what they're doing and have some great tutorials on

how to break up the model and get it zeroed for the different weapons parts sets etc.

I highly recommend them.

if you want your weapon to be standalone, as one piece too, that's cool also.

I look forward to seeing what awesome concepts you come up with!

Cheers for the advice, I'll look around . (Forgotten Weapons Conversion project you say? Hmmmm)

A two-inch snub special sounds like a good idea, I suppose it would be easy to add. And while I'm at it I might go the other way with it as an extra as well, a-la Jack Nicholson Joker style:

http://orig09.deviantart.net/cb34/f/2016/210/f/a/600px_batman_jokerrevolver3_by_goldsilverbronzekid-dabu7pa.jpg

The guitar unfortunately was not modelled with poly-count in mind so runs at about 200,000.... Although guitars and flamethrowers are a classic age-old combination that might be worth looking into later.

Overall, I would like the idea of building some kind of mission around the acquiring of the SAA, rather than just getting it in some box somewhere if such a thing is possible...

Cheers again,

Nick

.

A few different texture options for more accurate immersion and comes in at about 10,000~ polygons.

I've had a search can't find anything, these forum layouts are impenetrable...

@exacerblast

neat! that looks, wow!

that parkerizing patina looks great - blued also is wow!

those original 'acid wash bath' finish, it's almost marbled those

no sheen on those hehe. knurled and bobbed tail, it's really something.

A local competitor has one, and dang if they can't "Rhodesian draw"

is that mother-of-pearl grips on the first one?

"Pig Iron, Pig Iron..." you can practically hear the New Vegas hehe.

any chance of a low-res option for the mid to low end installs too?

If you're looking to import it and want some pointers,

carnagefiend, perraine and tumbajamba have some great guides.

it might be hard to find, as i think it's now unlisted round these parts,

it was like a 4 page thread hehe.

I think there was a kerfuffle or some such.

if you're somewhat familiar with Ian McCallum of Forgotten Weapons

or royalnonesuch/pipetopia at full30,

the Forgotten Weapons conversion project was looking to

bring those obscure weapons and kyber-pass blasters

into Fallout as weapons parts packs.

about 30 weapons were at various stages of completion.

Glastonderry Pocket Avenger,

the Dardick "quackers" carbine,

Savage b variant trials (looks great with the MiB weapons part set).

stuff like that.

if you're ever looking for weapons parts to chip-away at,

or perhaps there's a few that take your interest,

I cannot recommend those enough as far as reference goes

call it sacrilege, though I'd probably put a picatinny rail on the top or side of

the post-apocalyptic worn out .44 Colt,

(never on the A-grade, as mint awesome one, perish the thought!)

that, or weld it into an over-under hehe.

definitely on the 2inch snub, I'd put a picatinny and 'gutter-snipe/bowling alley sights"

fluro green or high-viz orange for the gutter.

the front night-sight is bowling-pin shaped.

as on the Detonics ASP-7b or the Army-Aviator special.

@montky

Cheers for the feedback. That's actually meant to be an ivory handle, going for the 'special officer issue' look while keeping the other one more standard wild-west looking. And yeah spent some time trying to authentically rough them up for immersion, wanted to avoid a shiny brand-new chrome look. I could probably shave off a few thousand polygons if the demand was ever there, I suppose I'll just see if I can get this thing in-game first then add the snub-nosed and other variants potentially etc. I'm thinking some kind of lever action rifle as well perhaps, again, if people care... I'll look into those guides to see how to get this thing in-game.

A rail? On a SAA?

Though I'd be pretty game for any of that kind of stuff if interest exists.

I think I need to just do a bit more forum crawling to find potential collaborators and what-not.

Cheers

Holy crap man! I've yet to do any mods myself, but I would DEFINITELY download this because it looks so damn good....and paired with a 1st person spinning animation for pistols....Oh man my inner Revolver Ocelot is going nuts. I might actually have to do a Revolver Ocelot play through if this mod happens, I really want to see it get off the ground, so I want to help how I can.

While I can't offer any actual modding help, if you need things like banner art/header art for the mod page, hit me up. I don't really have a true portfolio for my graphic design work quite yet (still in school), but if you want a decent look at what I've done with text & whatnot, take a look at the thumbnails and banner art on my youtube page. Hell, I do video editing obviously, so if you decide you want a fancy trailer or something, I could probably do that too.

Revolver Ocelot indeed, zoom in to the engraving on the gun in that first image why not...

In terms of extra art and what-have-you, it really depends on where this goes. If it develops to the point where it's necessary I might be in touch

these are some beautiful models , and incredibly detailed workmanship

do you plan on making more interesting models?

some more of the older beauties of the past , like old revolvers \ rifles?

hoping to see more from you , and hope someone will collaborate with you , and bring these beauties in game

Cheers, and yeah I'm currently sorting out a Ruger Mini-14, A-Team style ->

I think I'm gonna have to to rig the SAA myself and get collaboration on getting it actually in-game; the same goes for this. I'll just have to see how it goes I suppose . . .
