I was looking for a mod that makes Shadowmere darker, but found nothing, so I decided I'd try to do so myself. The thing is, I can't seem to get to the texture for Shadowmere and haven't found any tutorials I can use. The ones I do find are for Oldrim and don't work since I can't open the texture bsas in Data and unlike Oldrim, Special Edition has 9 different bsas that have textures.

How do I edit the skin? (Any tutorials, mods, locations, etc relating to this would help. Thanks!)

BSA browser will open both SSE and Oldrim .bsas. What I do is just open all the texture .bsas at once, (highlight, right-click > open) and then type a partial search term, such as 'horse' into the box at the bottom. Then, one by one, click on the .bsas in the left column, until you start to see horse-related textures.

Same with the meshes, although what I play with most is armor and I know that's mostly in meshes0.

I didn't think you could open them. Whenever I try to it says "unable to open archive index was outside the bounds of array" no matter what program I use for bsas.

EDIT: This is old, but I'm editing this anyways. My assumption is that there were too many things to load and the program couldn't handle it. That, or maybe they just aren't meant to be opened/can't be opened.

First time I've heard of that, but it kind of sounds like your system doesn't realize to use the bsa program to open it.

Try right-clicking on it and using "open with" to find your bsa program. There may or may not be an "always use this" option. If there's not, you may need to right-click > properties and set the 'opens with' from there.
