Ok, I officially hate the shivering isles bit...

Cool! I'll have to try that one out, looks fun. I always wondered in the movies, how a light saber would bounce off of some surfaces. I mean, it's basically plasma...

If you're role playing, the guard right outside the Shivering Isles portal tells you that everyone who goes there and comes back goes crazy. Just take the guard's warning at face value and stay away from the dangerous portal.

Or start a new character that is a crazy criminal.

hmmmm 2 years late.

3rd time playing oblivion and I have always installed SI but this was my first time playing it.

My girl hated being put in a position where she had to choose the wrong thing or the other wrong thing. She decided to let sheagorass know that this was her realm and did nothing he asked, killed him, left him laying naked on the stairs and walked right back out.... with a pretty dress of course.

I don't know if it was his intention to tick her off like that, or not, but he did.

All is not lost.... at least she received a very pretty dress for her efforts.

It IS a pretty dress... don't you think?.... Just say, "yes ma'am"

Honestly I was a bit disappointed that anyone would even create such a disastrous story line for a role playing type of game.

Obviously my girl, on the other hand, was downright angry.

:excl: I did eventually return to the Shivering Isles and completed the main quest. I talk about this more on a follow up post below. :excl:

I play the type of character who will do almost anything to gain powerful allies, so if he has to cause a few people momentary discomfort to gain the favor of the freaking Madgod, he'll do it. Just not in front of the wife and kids. One wouldn't want to set a bad example, after all.

What mod did you use to kill Sheogorath?

I just Killed him...

...Oh but not until I used the "Set Essential" cheat spell... that made him non-essential.

.... Ok so after wrecking the shivering isles main quest I got to thinking.... about life and stuff.

I realized that in a lot of ways I am not much better than "good ol' sheo".

In RL I had been having to make a lot of tough decisions that I did not want to make because none of the options seemed like good ones. I started playing Oblivion to step away from RL for a bit and then I am faced again with a bunch of lousy choices.

But in the game I wasn't any different than Sheo because one of the first things I did was to use the console to set crimegold on Glarthir real high so that I wouldn't have to deal with him again. After Killing sheo and returning home to Skingrad I had to walk right past poor Glarthir who was still laying in the street after being killed by the guards.

I really wouldn't be a very good God. I guess I have proven that over and over again in RL also.

I returned to a previous save game and Played the main SI quest all the way through. I was glad that I did and it was much nicer getting that regalia legitimately.

It was all good but I did have some fun with it along the way.

I didn't appreciate Haskill's Haughtiness so I thought I would cut him down to size a bit. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3j3637nmx8n6p1s/ScalpingHaskill.png

That proved to be a bit frustrating.

Along the way anyone that died that I did not think should be dead I resurrected.

Sil ended up locked in the dungeon, I resurrected the three adventurers, my dead shadow, Muurine, M'azgha, etc...

Eventually I did win the throne.

I made choices the best I knew how, saved who I could save, I did what I could do with what I had, just like in RL.

I learned once again that I am a lousy god and there is only One who can claim that position.
