Looking for help/guidance starting a heavily modded Skyrim?

First thanks for any help. I'm looking for help/guidance starting a heavily modded 200+ Skyrim game. I got my first gaming PC early this year and have been having a lot of fun modding my favorite games. (Skyrim Fallout etc.) However while I've been able to run Skyrim SE heavily modded. I haven't been so lucky with Oldrim. I notice that many of the mods I've been using on SE have better versions on Oldrim and that some of the mods I would like to use aren't on SE. I would appreciate any help you could give.

 

1)I like to use a lot of a decent amount of quest mods Such as Legacy of the Dragonborn(and some of its addons), Falskaar, and Beyond Bruma. Is it better to stay away from mods like this on Oldrim.

 

2)I like to use a decent amount of character creation mods such as Racemenu, Skin Textures, Botox for Skyrim, etc. Is There anything I should look out for while doing this.

 

3)I use several mods for aestetic purposes. Such as Static Mesh Improvement, and Should I stay away from certain ones?

 

4)I haven't used ENB's though I'd like to try one. I'm not sure which one though or if there's anything special I need to do?

 

5)One of the many reasons I'm looking to create an Oldrim game is the variety of clothing/armor/jewelry mods available compared to SE.

 

6)I don't use many followers mods. I have recently started using Amazing follower Tweaks in Fallout and I like how it works. I'm not sure if there's something comparable in Oldrim.

 

7)I tend to use several mods that add varieties of fish/plants/insects to the game. Like Improved Fish & Bellyaches. Is it better to not use these.

 

8)Any other help/guidance.

Dude I ran a 500 mod build on Oldrim with LOTD, some textures, SMIM, Amazing Follower Tweaks, etc. It's fine. It's more of whether your mods work together or not, and whether you did your due homework and added bugfix/performance enhancing tools/ini edits etc.

 

The issue with Oldrim is that it's a 32bit program. So you'll have to do stuff like ENBoost, INI edits, install tools like Crash fixes and stuff to keep a heavily modded game running fine.

I highly recommend ENB in general as it has some things (such as ENBoost mentioned above that can greatly improve stability within the game. I'm getting pretty handy with INI edits so if you encounter a problem I might know a few solutions. Or you can usually google it.

 

I don't have much experience with most of the mods you were talking about but I do know botox for skyrim. I love that mod but I'm personally waiting for the update due to certain issue. Namely, if using custom eye color mods the eyes tend to be a little off. Facial expressions also stop working in the racemenu and in game (almost like real botox lol). When the next update comes out I intend to download it, as it is otherwise my favorite face fixing mod. Matches my aesthetic tastes for video game characters perfectly.

 

As for using the script heavy quest mods, you can certainly do them. It's just a matter of figuring out how many of them, how to tackle them, and what you might be willing to give up (other mods or stability) for them. I run quite a few script heavy mods myself, but I tend to keep my overall mod set fairly low as a sort of balancing effort.

When it comes to using textures I would be careful with that. My gpu wore out after six months when I switched over to 100% 4k textures. I had 176 mods with 120 scripts running haha. I went waay over what I should have and my computer strangely showed hardly any signs of this being too much (it did lag a little here and there). I recently asked someone about the textures that they used in their house mod, and in passing he recommended using this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6491. My computer does not have the newest gaming technology (Intel Core i5, Nvidia GTX 950M, 8 gigs of ram) so it depends on the computer itself.
