Oblivion loading save crashes the game

Recommended Posts

This always seems to happen, on every install, I have literally no mods installed and whenever I load a save that I recently played, it crashes.

So I decided to save 3 times which gave me different results.

The last save I did causes the game to crash and the other two let me into the game.

So everytime I am done with the game, I have to save 3 times...which is an awful habit to do for sure.

What have i done to cause this? Is this due to Autosaves being buggy? Or is it something else?

I am using a disc copy of oblivion.

I can think of one thing and that's to defrag your HDD due for being too fragmented. Personally, I use Auslogic's DiskDefrag, have use it for almost 10 years, and I am satified with it.

There is also another thing to check and that's how much free diskspace is there on C as it is that partition your gamesaves for Oblivion will be stored.

I never tested DiskDegrag, I use Defraggler instead, it allows you to individually defrag any file.

Do you use MessageLogger?

What's your lod order?

Did you recently install a bunch of mods?

Did you check for dirty mods https://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php?title=TES4Edit_Cleaning_Guide and editor ID's starting with numbers?

he stated in the OP "I have literally no mods installed".

yes, there's a prob w/ auto-saves. this is actually the only feature i use w/ Streamline is the "save's" feature. i've found many times a auto-save w/ fast travel for some reason winds up corrupt, often crashing prior to the load, fortunately Streamline i have set up, so that's saving quite often and seldom have to back up that far.

not sure why, but i had to back up to Streamline 3.0 instead of the latest. the only draw-back, i'm not able to auto-save after a battle. debating on opening streamline 3.1 and just seeing if i can integrate that one fraction of code into 3.0. thus far, it's not been that major of prob to facilitate what i would refer to as a unnecessary potential head ache ... dealing w/ others code in short.
