A little help with TES Lore

I was wondering if someone familiar with TES lore could tell me about the children in Tamriel.

I don't need a whole history lesson. I would like to know about children that are born into other races. We see Bretton, Nord, Imperial, and Redguard in Skyrim but not the others. I realise that is isn't because the other races don't have any children. I want to know, if the developers decided to work on them more, how they might have placed them around Skyrim or even if they would have put them in Skyrim at all. Is it a lore thing? Also, how rare would they be for each race? I read that the Altmer live quite a long time, that might mean they don't have many children. The Khajiits are almost nomadic, but would they bring there children with them on there travels or leave them with relatives back in Elsweyr? Things like this are what I'm interested in.

I've looked at that website along with elderscrolls.wikia and The Imperial Library. They don't seem to have much at all to say about the children in Tamriel.

There are even injokes in the games about the missing children.

M'aiq the Liar

"M'aiq does not remember his childhood, perhaps he never had one."

Referencing the lack of children in Morrowind and Oblivion, and the further lack of children from non-human races, such as Khajiit, in Skyrim.

I haven't actually played Oblivion but I was under the impression that there were children in that game. My BF tells me that there was even an Argonian child that you had to save during a quest.

Anyway, the reason I want this information is because I'm attempting to make a mod that overhauls the children but I also want to add the children from the other races BUT not if it goes against the lore.

i would say, that it's NOT against the lore to add children of all races to the game.

i would go even further and say, that most of the people would love to have more children in the game (not to many, of course. don't want to have children "overflow" the gameworld).

in my opinion, the lack of children in the games (not only in TES, but in most of the games released) is because the devs are scared about lawsuits about killable children, childpornography and other "unsuitable" things with children.

on a sidenote: In the Dreamcast Version of the game "Soldier of Fortune", even the female enemies were removed, because you could kill them....

So would it be up to the modder to decide the lore regarding the existence of children from other races in Skyrim? I don't want to add a whole lot more, just a few of the races that aren't already in the game. I just wanted to know some things about the lore to help me decide weather or not to bother with it and where to put them in the Skyrim world space if I do decide to try it.

just go for it.

if someone doesn't like children of other races, it's not your problem.

noone is forced to download and install a mod. it's all personal taste.

just remember the "Macho Man Dragons" mod. it was in the top5 of the mod of the month category for a long time.

there are many mods i would never install and there are many mods, i can't live without.

If the mod is good and fits my personal taste, i would download it for testing. when i like it, it will stay in my modlist. if i doesn't like it, i will uninstall it.

If your mod is good, i will download it. if not, it's ok for me not to download it. But i think, it will add alot of immersion to the game (even if it contradicts the injokes about children in the game).

with 150+ active mods for Skyrim alone, i would might call me a "modwhore" because i love to play with good mods, when they add things into the game, i am missing in the vanilla game. :woot:

i will track your progress with your upcoming mod. i wish you all the best with it

Well thanks for your input and encouragement. I will endeavor to keep it lore friendly. Perhaps you could BETA test it for me when I make some progress .

It will also be an overhaul for the Adults as well. This however, is easier than the children. The adults have resources that the children don't such as their Headchargen.tri which is what allows you to change the face of your character. This is why the children all look the same, there is only one face in the game available to them.

when i find the time, i would gladly help you test the mod.

the devs were just lazy to add more faces for the children because there are just a few of them in the game.

btw. the tool with all the faces were created is called "FaceGen Modeller"

from the about section of the webpage:

"•2011, November. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim released using FaceGen. "

i have used it myself for a Videogame project, i was working on a few years ago. you can create faces with the tool and then import it into the game. but there are a few things, that can't get imported with the CreationKit because of licensing issues. But you can use the tool and try to replicate the results in the CreationKit. It is possible, because i did it in Fallout 3 myself.
