I know bathing mods have been suggested a couple of times on these forums, but no one seems to have taken it up, and all the requests I found seem like they may be a little more complex. I have no idea how difficult it would be to do, but I'd love to see a cleanliness mod that just uses the in-game dirt textures.

Over time, maybe being updated each time you sleep (like Gopher's Pumping Iron; a certain counter goes up as you do things, and when you sleep that counter updates your character's physical appearance appropriately), cleanliness/hygiene decreases. Go for a swim, or maybe stand in a body of water and use a rag or bar of soap or some similar item, and the dirt textures are removed.

In terms of consequences, I was thinking simple buffs/debuffs: increased or decreased resistance to disease, maybe speechcraft. Nothing fancy, unless some modder out there is feeling ambitious.

Anyone interested?

From an immersion point of view, I have to say I doubt the people of Skyrim care about keeping clean. I know it's an entirely different world to ours, but it's fair to assume it's based around a medieval era.. and taking care of your appearance and hygiene was considered a feminine thing; usually a wash basin or bucket of water would suffice; dip your head in and away you go.

Saying that, I don't suppose it would hurt. You'd be mocked by all the fellow nords for pruning yourself, but at least you'd smell nice! There are several mods out there with showers and bathing areas, heck, most player homes feature one these days. I know Riverside Lodge has a bathing area; http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14308//?

There was another mod recently that added showers to the Inns, but I can't remember the name.. just search the Nexus. There's plenty out there.

@Jokerine: cheers, but was really hoping for the in-game dirt textures, rather than a visible odour. :)

@Petemichael: definitely wouldn't want it to require washing too often (normal for people in the setting to let it go for quite a while at a time), but people in our medieval history did wash more regularly than people tend to think. Not really interested in having hot baths or showers or anything like that. More like what Drink Sleep Eat Bathe uses - go stand in a river, wash, and get back to your adventuring. But, as said, with dirt textures rather than a visible odour.

I do like your basin/bucket idea, though. Especially in the north, where you can't reasonably go swimming if you're using something like Frostfall. Being able to use a bucket of water somewhere in a town (off in some corner somewhere) would be cool. :)
