  1. Don't like the new layout very much. But it's quite normal to feel confused whenever a site gets updated. Getting used to the new graphics takes some time. I cannot explain, though, the iconoclastic fervour against some features of the old version. Namely... what was wrong with the "Hot Files" section? Why rename it as "Trending"? That's the kind of unecessary, uncalled for change the only effect of which is to upset and confuse people. The Hot Files was an iconic feature of the site. It's a connection with the past. Why, after years of "Congratulations for the Hot Files" are we being forced to "congratulations for the Trending Mods"? There is some technical issues I'm not aware of? My humble suggestion would be to revert to old "Hot Files" label. It's just a title but it means much.

I'd join the NEMO bandwagon. It's spot on.
  3. I feel Arthmoor, Kris Takahashi, Elianora and Chesko are either very popular and still active in the community. As a personal suggestion, please consider CEO. His OSA Ascendancy Engine really has a lot of potential. At the moment is mostly exploited for adult content, but can grow to become a huge Skyrim modding asset.
  4. In response to post #43209810. #43210050, #43211665 are all replies on the same post. As a long time and very happy user of MO I have mixed feeling about this. On one hand I'm happy about you and about your work being recognized. I also plause to Dark0ne wise decision. It's not easy to swallow one's pride and acknowledge somebody else has made a better job. But I fear (and I'm sure others share the same feeling) that you can't have both world. Both a easy to use NMM and a more complete (yet still rather easy) MO. Anyway, the border has been crossed. We'll wait and see...

Having listen to the voice acting in the video... really can't understand what you're complaining about. Do you expect to have a team of Leonardo DiCaprio Oscar winners to dub this mod?
  6. Congratulations Nexus. And Dark0ne, thanks for this article. I've joined Nexus (and modding) only starting in 2013 and is nice to know the whole backstory.

(Unless the Nexus start giving Bethesda a cut, but would be a complex agreement and Dark0ne clearly stated he want Nexus to remain a haven for free modding). But I believe a subscription fee, netflix style, would be the only, feasible way to make a Paid Workshop system work (wether run by Steam or directly by Bethesda). I'm not going to paid 5 dollar to download a single weather mod, but I would pay 1 to 5 dollar monthly to have unlimited access to a vast archive of mods.

I think it ever Paid Mods are to become the norm, the montly fee, all-you-can-eat, Netflix style subscriptions would be the way to go. When you mod as a user you wanna try them all. Test them. Try different combination. To have to pay for every single mod you download (even a very modest fee) would go against the way people use mods.

  12. I was surprised by these numbers on the Bethesda post. "Only 8% of the Skyrim audience has ever used a mod. Less than 1% has ever made one". Someone can elaborate more? 8% seems a bit low to me. What they call the "Skyrim audience" includes the Steam/PC gamers only... or also the console.

That's a good point. And before the introductions of the pop ups on Nexus (pointing you to the unendorsed mods) the percentage were far far lower.
  14. Let me add the point of view not of a modder... but of a video showcaser. Actually I'm making a profit from mods. A very tiny tiny profit in my case. Considering the gains and the huge amount of hours involved in testing and editing, I think I still can be considered someone doing that as a hobby. Anyway there are dozens, if not more, people doing the same. From Mxr's 700k down to new channels with an handful of subscriber. And they keep showing out. What will happen then to all these people if mods becomes something to pay for? First thought. "Oh god... now I'll have to pay to download mod before making the video!" But probably, there will be an option for creators to give away the mod for free as a test demo. That probably could be bad for new, smaller, not yet established mods reviews channel. Then... If I'm reviewing something which people might pay for... What do I'm now? An honest reviewer? An advertiser? And what will be the boundaries between the two. What if I'm getting paid by the mod's creator to produce a showcase of his/her newly "User generated Content"? (Yay! I wouldn't mind a cut of the millions Dark One's mentioned in the post) But then a too biased review, or a non-transparent conduct could be punished by the viewers. All in all, I think, the sub-sector of the "Mods Showcaser" would get more professionalized and face all the same ethical and credibility issues of more established reviewers, like the one reviewing books or movies in the media. It's not a all-doom scenario. What I'm afraid UGCs spell the dead for, is that special community feeling and freshness typical of underground phenomenon.
  15. Is long enough so It can go across all the 6 box on the Hotfiles stripe.
