  1. Hey, thanks for finding that! It fixed a crash I had that was a game breaker, since i couldn't access 70% of the damn game. It always crashed whenever I tried to load a certain group of cells. that being New Vegas and the NCRCF. Now that it works I ended up playing for about 6 hours today... Jeeze. good game, markedly improved from fallout 3 as far as writing goes... poor Boone.
  2. Well, I got the game to work. But now, any time I try to cross the train tracks into the area of the NCR Correction Facility, it freezes. I know it isn't a mod thing because I took off all mods and tried it, and it still froze. It always freezes at the exact same spot too. I think it might be trying to load a new cell or something... Either way, the video freezes, the music still plays, and in windowed mode it shows that it has stopped responding. This is a serious game breaker because i can't even go to Vegas at all. Literally 70% of the map is off limits. And most of the game. Any ideas?
  3. Ok. I just reinstalled NV, and noticed something weird. Despite my video card being an ATI Radeon HD4600, when I looked in the Options section it only has the Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT in the drop-down bar to select my video card. Is this important? I thought I read somewhere else that they were getting the same exact problems, but they were at least getting video. Never mind, I fixed it. I finally fixed it! Ok it appears that the d3d9.dll fix was the problem. I took that file out on a hunch really, and tried to start it up. It worked first time. (And said ultra high quality when I started up the launcher, go figure.) So I guess if anyone is having the same problems as I was, make sure that you don't have the d3d9.dll file in there. Well, thanks for at least trying to help pretzdothack.
  4. Yeah, again, same problem still happening. I don't get it. what am I doing wrong? And I did find 10.4... but it isn't fixing the problem... This is really irritating, normally when I buy a game I get to ... you know... play it...
  5. Nope, not driver. tried that already. but just to be sure... (Two restarts, and a driver wipe + re-install later) Welp, that didn't work. ... wait. 10.4? I could only find 10.10. is there an instability in the newest version or something? Scratch that, found it, but it also didn't work.
  6. I bought and Downloaded Fallout NV yesterday, DL came out without a hitch, but when I tried running the game it went to a black screen, then froze. I let it sit for about 10 minutes, to see if it was just being slow, and it wasn't. Stayed black. No sound or anything. Alt+Tab did nothing, mouse was still visible. Had to CAD to get out of it. Task manager said it was not responding. I did the regular Id10t checklist, restarting the computer, changing settings to the lowest possible, setting windowed mode... you know, the regular troubleshooting bulls***. After I restarted the computer, Fallout NV downloaded a new patch. once that was finished, I tried again. Same deal, but this time no video but sound was there. It also apparently got to the main menu, because I was able to hear the clicking sound it gives off when you mouse over one of the options. I still couldn't see anything. Tried window mode. Didn't work. Settings low? No dice. I even went and downloaded a new driver for my video card. Nothing. I tried a couple of the video fixes, the d3d fix, and mouse lag fix namely. They did nothing. I went to the Can You Run It, thing and it says that I am well above the requirements. Can anyone help? My system is OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Processor - Pentium® Dual Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHz Memory - 6Gigs RAM Direct X Version 11 Video - ATI Radeon HD4600 series (Newest drivers installed) Chip Type - ATI Display Adapter (0x9490)
  7. While not a laptop, it appears I need to buy a new video card. the chipset that came with this thing is PATHETIC! Well, thanks for the tip.
  8. Question. Are you playing Fallout3 on windows 7? I have the exact same problem. you can do pretty much anything on the main menu, but when you start a new game it crashes.
  9. Bbrand new install, brand new computer, have not bothered with .ini tweaks yet because they are usually used for mods(Of which I need the game to WORK before I touch them...). Have reinstalled. Twice. It is really annoying. I have tried the uhm... wonderful... compatibility mode, tried windowing it. And it isn't in the default directory. still does the exact same bloody thing. Oh, and I just tried to load up a save from another computer. It went about 10 seconds this time, then shunted me out of the program. I really have no idea what is going on here.
  10. Ahh, I should have said this. I actually downloaded the patch to see if it would fix this problem in the first place. It didn't.
  11. Technical Data OS - Windows7 64bit home premium Processor - Pentium® Dual-Core CPU E5400 @2.7GHz 2.7GHz RAM 6GB Onboard video card Disk version of game, patched to 1.7 (From bethsoft site) Fixed stupid games for windows live error (Ordinal 5360 error) Set to lowest video settings. When I run the game, it starts just fine, gets to the main menu, and allows full access to pretty much everything there. however, once I try to use the "New Game" selection, it goes to a loading screen, does it's thing for a random amount of time, (Anywhere from 3-7 seconds.) then crashes to the desktop with an option to see what went wrong. Apparently it is a somewhat common problem with Fallout3 on Windows 7, but I found nothing using the find function on the forums. (Just a different thing involving sound going but no video...) Any thoughts?
  12. Many thinks, now I can finally add some Op:A and Broken Steel to my mod that I am working on. Thanks to this handy little(Large) guide, I got my game working properly again, AND am able to access resource files. Not to mention speed up the load times since it is an extra process that isn't started. Achievements were worthless in this game anyways. ~Edit Oh, by the way, this wasn't entirely clear by what the title post said, but you just move the saves up one file from the profile into the saves folder. It isn't anywhere near the data files in fallout3. I had to noodle my way through that one for a bit before I figured it out. No extra program needed. Just a drag and drop. In other words you go from This C:\Users\(User_name)\Documents\My Games\Fallout3\Saves\(Profile_name) To this C:\Users\(User_name)\Documents\My Games\Fallout3\Saves Because when you disable windows live you disable profiles. it still looks for(And saves characters) in the saves folder though. hope that helps anyone who got sorta confused why they couldn't play their saves. This is on vista, but shouldn't be much more of a stretch on XP. In fact, it would probably be easier with XP.
  13. Ok, first, the problem. I bought Morrowind from steam. Good game, came packaged with pretty much everything. Except the construction set. I have been searching for the set for the last few days, using Google, and other search engines. But all they come up with is downloads for the Oblivion CS, and I know that it isn't backwards compatible. If anyone could point me in the direction to FIND the darned thing, I can start working on my mods. Thanks.
