WJS7744 did it! it highlights all actors when on. different color for if they are hostile or not too! nice work man. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3204 now we just need it to look like its the inside of the helmet and it will be complete!

Outside noise being the same can be explained away with external mics to aid in combat... But, if any sounds should be changed, maybe having your own voice modulated when you're hit, and instead of *splortch* sounds from the impacts, have them be metallic. But, I'd love to see a HUD system integrated with Power Helmets or, at the very least, a foreground overlay. Im looking forward to seeing what Skree000 comes up with. those are very good ideas. the sound of your own voice being muffled would add to realism, wouldnt get annoying, and its funny hearing someone cussing like crazy while muffled for some odd reason...... oh and the metal sound when geting hit would be cool too. and SGD. that filter looks awesome. the layout is how i was thinking it would look best as. but i think the fuzzy blackness should be replaced by metal and not be so out of focus. also that is night vision, right? i was playing star wars: republic commando recently and the helmet looks very very close to how i was thinking it should be. exept the little bit of warp effect towards the center, that can stay out.

i think the breathing noise would get annoying very quickly (ala dogmeat). I suppose making some noises sound muffled would work to add to the realism, but i dont think it is as ....... whats the word? potent(?) as the visual aspect of the helmet.

when i thought of this idea i already knew that mod existed, along with the footstepsound mod. but even those mods didnt make the power armor ingame seem immersive in the slightest. i figured you had sound immersion,'feel' immersion, so the only other sense that i thought could be improved was sight immersion. Also, i never knew the armor was supposed to be that powerful! thx for the lesson teach  .

cover? what is this cover thing you speak of? you mean that annoying thing that stops me from always getting a headshot from REALLY REALLY far away? i really dont get why you would need cover in a game like this. Even the enemies with fullautomatic assault rifles only shoot in bursts so they dont deal that much damage very quickly. The only enemy i think you would need cover for are the supermutants with miniguns, but thats why they are the first thing players kill in a gunfight. plus you can heal youself up to full health instantly with your pip boy, so there is no reason to hide while you lick your wounds. idk, maybe its because i usually play a rifle character and can take out the dangerous targets before they can get a shot off. A cover systems like GoW or M.E. would take a gigantic amount of work and knowledge and the payout would be so minimul IMHO.

that might have been the most beautiful thing i have ever read in my life. you just put everything that was inside of my head (and more) and couldnt get out into words. also, Skree000 that is really cool looking. originaly i was thinking more of a metal helmet look instead of a futuristic computer look but now i realise your design would make much more sense and looks better too! i think you hit the nail on the head with your design. and i agree that there should be some form of filter, but the problem is that is has to be a powerful enough color so that people dont forget that its there but it also has to be light enough that you notice when night vision is on. also i think that the filter should have the same color as the pipboy3000, that way people can choose which color they want. i cant believe the response im getting from this idea. this web site and its community are much better than ones iv been on in the past.

just putting in my 2 cents. if you make this mod you have to ask youself one very important question. Are you going to make your zombies like those from 'I Am Legend' (fast but hurt by the light), 'Dawn of the Dead' (fast and not effected by the light), or realistic like from 'The Zombie Survival Guide' (slow, uneffected by sunlight, only killable with head shot, and have SUPER duper perception)? if your going to make them like those from I Am Legend, then at the lincoln memorial have big lights pointed at the white stairs up to the memorial, and have two or three pointed at the dirt path leading to the memorial but spread out a bit. Then have a few friendly robots on the steps to assist you. At night you can activate an event where if you press a button in the memorial a siren or loud noise sounds and then a ton (im talking 100ish) feral ghouls come out of the subway tunnels and start running towards the memorial. Since there is only one way up it would be a defendable place, and since it is night it would be hard to see what is coming at you.... that is until you see movement in one of the lights on the dirt path. Then suddenly the single movement turns into the frantic thrashings of a hundred ghouls all headed towards you. As they start climbing the well lit steps you see exactly what you're up against, and you poo your pants. eventualy (because a constant stream would be needed) you would be pushed back from the stairs and all the robots on the stairs would be destroyed. you have to retreat to Lincols feet where a few more robots helpers are waiting. then the zombies come charging through the greatwhite pillars, and from every other direction through everyone of the holes in the building. Just think that scene over in your head and try to tell me it wouldnt be the coolest thing ever in fallout 3. Oh and if your going for realistic, read the zombie survival guide. its a really good book.

not quite what i was thinking but still pretty cool. when i said a green filter i didnt mean extreme watered down green tea color though. If the color was that light after a while of looking at it the player would get uncomfortable. It can even cause headaches much quicker than normal (the effects of vertigo in a sense) and increase the feeling of frustration. That's one of the reasons most games use a lot of powerful colors and there is such a distinction between colors in their games (fallout has them too if you know how to look at it). As for the other parts of the video, it looks fine to me. although on the sides there should be the actual sides of the helmet. (P.S.---Now that i think about it, a filter that is always on might actually be a bad idea. how about the filter only comes on when night vision is activated?) (P.P.S.--- i just discovered the mod request forumn. moderators, please forgive my stupidity and insolence for puting this topic here instead of there!)

Ya i knew about the night vision glasses someone had modded before. As for the highlight all enemies at the same time problem, i suppose just highlighting the enemy closest to the middle of the screen would work just as well. It doesnt matter if there is one raider or 10 raiders, once you know the enemy is there you're in your own little combat mode (mentally i mean). I was thinking of it more as a warning system that a combat system that tracks everything. As for the cool look inside your helmet, i don't think it would take that much effort really. the little gauges/readouts would already be at the bottom corners of the screen (I.E. health and weapon). All you need to do would be to add 'texture' or w/e its called so that the edges of the screen look like the inside of a helmet and the screen is green(changable color options are important on this site it seems) and has a grid look to it so it doesnt seem like your looking through a newly cleaned glass window. The little moving vertical line isnt really that important, i just thought it would give the feeling that the suit is actually doing something. Like it is always looking for threats and whatnot I figured this mod (or at least the inside of the helmet look) + that mod that changes powersuit walk sound would make it feel like your actually in a nuclear powered metal death suit of kick@ssity.

ok, here is my idea. An Automated Battlefield Scanning Interface. When wearing a power helmet in first person view it actually looks like the inside of a power helmet. the computer scanner automaticaly highlights enemies (hold down V when targeting an enemy. Similar to that without stopping the game) and allows you to turn on/off night vision at will. The vanilla interface already has a weapon/ammo readout at the bottom corners, and with this mod in place they would already look like computer readouts for the helmet interface. Add a semi-green filter (maybe changable color) and maybe a thin darker colored vertical line moving back and forth for looks and you have yourself a unique, immersive, & functional addition to power armor. I just want this thing to exist so bad and many of my friends think it would be Bad@$$. But alas, none of use know how to do it. you can take all the credit for the idea if you want, i just want to see it given life.
