  1. I really have a yen to play FNV again but I'm struggling with the new methods of adding mods... I was very comfortable with using NMM, installing NVSE, and using LOOT to sort everything in the past and that worked great for me with no issues in the past. I know that NMM is not supported anymore. First time I tried adding mods via NMM (62.5 version), on a fresh install of NV, I had numerous issues, every mod I tried would fail to execute and I would get errors. I then tried Vortex. That worked very well until I tried to install the Character Overhaul mod, and then I was getting Red Exclamation marks over all the NPCs so obviously some textures failed to load in the right place. Otherwise that seemed to work fine except I don't know how Vortex handles overwriting files...it doesn't ask about that like NMM did. So what is the easiest way to add in mods right now? Is there a specific older version of NMM i should use, or should I stick with Vortex and try again? I see there is an Archive INvalidate option in Vortex, I turned that on, don't know how that activates. Also, do I need to use Loot with Vortex? I don't really want to use a ton of mods , really just want NMC textures, the Character overhaul, Project Nevada, wasteland fauna mod, and the Someguy quest series, and that is really it. I'm running windows ten, using a steam version of NV, and my computer is powerful. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks folks!
  2. I love Skyrim but it really does have some things that drive you crazy after awhile. I don't know, Skyrim is like one step forward and one step backward. It's an incredible game on some levels , yet some of the deep seated problems are just crippling in the long run. Far and away the biggest problem is the lack of identity your character has. My character...he has no personality whatsoever. There are few choices in dialogue and none of it really matters, in terms of what you say, how you act. Few of the NPC's are memorable or unique. And again, my own character has zero flavor, there is nothing to him that marks him as MY character, theres just nothing to him, he is interchangeable with anyone else's character. I wish the dialogues and ethical choices mattered. In the open world RPG aspect Skyrim is the undisputed king, but in terms of personalization and choice based dialogue, a game like Mass Effect beats it easily. It would make the game immeasurably better if i could play an evil hearted bastard with a savage wit, or an honorable knight always out to do the right thing, or a village idiot turned savior of the world, or a jerkish rogue with a heart of gold, etc. So basically all it boils down to is : uninteresting quests given by uninteresting NPCs, to a boring player character. Bethesda and Bioware need to make a baby together....it would be glorious. Oh and yeah, you can't have an RPG without player stats, sorry. If the old system wasn't working or was being abused by power gamers, CHANGE it, don't abandon it entirely. I don't know why they didn't just use something like a modified SPECIAL system. Also, the game fails because of too much choice, too many options for power. I don't think most players want to be able to easily create a god-like character that can do everything and be awesome at everything. The game should limit your powers. No, you shouldn't be able to be a master theif/assassin/warrior/mage that is the head of every guild and housecarl to every Jarl in the game. Stats back up this system. Sure you could be a skilled warrior and mage, but it should come with weaknesses and compromises. So yeah...Skyrim needs a better team of writers and a return to some of the complexity of Daggerfall and Morrowind.
  3. I feel like the walking speed is far too slow, yet the running speed in game is just ridiculously fast. Is there a way I can edit the run speed to be slower, without console commands?
  4. Jet black, pure white, and red mages robes with a cool looking hood, dragonlance style. Simple but cool.
  5. I think adding the ability to lay down/go prone in the game would really help add to the tactical feel of the game, especially if it gave the player an accuracy bonus, and of course it would help protect you from being shot. The downsides would be you are very vulnerable to melee attacks and you can only move very slowly. I use mods that increase the damage, so taking cover is finally important, unlike vanilla Fallout 3, so any additions to "taking cover" options would be sweet. Would it even be possible to mod this into the game? Has it been done?
  6. So, I'm trying to download the DLC and I'm learning what a lovely program Games for Windows Live is. Could this thing be any slower or clunkier? Anyway, while within the Fallout 3 menu I accidentally deleted my old profile I had created, which eliminated my save games from appearing (can't select load or continue ) ? I see the files still exist in my documents/my games folder, but does anyone know how to play those saved games now? Am I screwed?
  7. Not sure if this mod exists or I dreamed it up, basically it changed the effect when you shot somebody in the head...instead of the default -which looks like you decapitate them with a sword, this mod made the headshot effect look more like a bullet was hitting it/exploding it? Am I crazy?
