I have two characters, one I play for advancement without roleplaying and the other I play Dead-is-Dead with some roleplaying elements. I enjoy playing both characters. My non-roleplay, non-Dead-is-Dead character is great for running around and just experiencing the world and system, playing fast and loose. My Dead-is-Dead roleplaying character, on the other hand, provides very thoughtful, slow and intense game sessions. Once he dies, I can't restart him and must start another character. So I take my time to ensure that he's well equipped and has a companion (to avoid dying) and since I'm playing much slower, I add roleplaying elements such as sleeping each night and eating every morning. If I know that I have a difficult battle that day (such as a dragon fight) and a possible death, then I prepare myself by sitting at a table with my companion and eating an excellent meal, knowing that it may be my last. And when I enter dungeons or battle, the tension is extreme! I hope that this helps. H.
