  1. Occasionally a saved game will become corrupted and crash when you are playing and when this happens, the crash seems to occur at roughly the same point in the game. Try loading an earlier save. If you haven't already, another thing to check is whether you have the proper load order for your mods. H.
  2. SKYUI (couldn't do without it) Better Sorting (makes dealing with inventory a LOT easier) Deadly Dragons (dragons should be feared) Realistic Lighting with Customization (a dramatic improvement in how the game looks without suffering an FPS hit) Realistic Water Textures (makes a noticeable improvement) There are a number of other mods that really make a difference for me, but the 5 above are my "must have's". Special mention for the next 5: Categorized Favorites Menu (a superior enhancement to the favorites menu) A Quality World Map - With Roads (I only use the main roads option, but even that greatly aids my travel plans) Shadow Striping Fix (fixes a real nuisance) Complete Crafting Overhaul (and related mods, to fix the naming and logic errors in crafting) Wars in Skyrim (for an extra dab of unpredictability and difficulty) H.
  3. I play on a laptop that is almost 2 years old and I try to find a nice balance of graphics versus performance. I love the gorgeous graphics when I can get them, but if the game lags too much, then I have difficulty with battles and can't enjoy the scenery. So when I add mods, I test them and often have to remove them when they introduce too much lag. The ENB series of mods kill my performance, so I don't use them. There are a number of graphics mods that I was able to load that didn't cause too much trouble though, as follows: Enhanced Blood Enhanced Night Skyrim Lush Grass No More Blocky Faces Realistic Lighting with Customization Realistic Smoke and Embers (low res version) Realistic Water Textures and Terrain (low res version) Sexy Villages and Towns Skyrim Flora Overhual (low res version) Skyrim Realistic Overhaul 1024 H.
  4. I have two characters, one I play for advancement without roleplaying and the other I play Dead-is-Dead with some roleplaying elements. I enjoy playing both characters. My non-roleplay, non-Dead-is-Dead character is great for running around and just experiencing the world and system, playing fast and loose. My Dead-is-Dead roleplaying character, on the other hand, provides very thoughtful, slow and intense game sessions. Once he dies, I can't restart him and must start another character. So I take my time to ensure that he's well equipped and has a companion (to avoid dying) and since I'm playing much slower, I add roleplaying elements such as sleeping each night and eating every morning. If I know that I have a difficult battle that day (such as a dragon fight) and a possible death, then I prepare myself by sitting at a table with my companion and eating an excellent meal, knowing that it may be my last. And when I enter dungeons or battle, the tension is extreme! I hope that this helps. H.
  5. Your assassin ritual sounds VERY fun! I'll have to do something similar. Here's a brief list that I use for my roleplaying, very similar to things that I've read from others: If I have to swim anywhere, I make sure that I find a fire shortly after that to warm up and dry out my clothes. Wear warm armor (e.g. fur) when traveling in a snowstorm, or else seek shelter Sleep once a day. Read from a book (from backpack) just before sleeping. Eat a nice meal every morning, preferably at a table with other Nords/Elves/etc. Only use crafting where it makes sense with your character role. No fast travelling, although if I've already been to a city and am in a hurry, I use a horse or cart. For my roleplayed characters, I use the Dead-is-Dead rule. H.
