  1. I remember this mod from years ago and would love to have it again, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Anyone happen to know if it can still be downloaded, or perhaps have a copy on an old hard drive?
  2. I....think so? When I went to pack the mod to upload I manually created the new folder structure elsewhere, and put all the files in the correct places within. They all worked just fine before installing this other mod. I'm not sure what you mean by override the original record?
  3. I just made my first mod. Amateur attempt at making a synth type face tattoo. It seemed to be working fine, but then I installed a new tattoo mod today, and for some reason its single tattoo has replaced one of my tattoos in Looksmenu. It has my tattoos name, but the texture from the new tattoo. WTH is going on? Is there a limited number of slots available? Is there some setting I missed? I thought it would be pretty straightforward additions to the tattoo options in Looksmenu. I have Looksmenu Customization Compendium, the Cyberpunk Tattoo mod and a half dozen body overlay mods installed and they all work together just fine. I read/watched several tutorials and I didn't think I missed anything, but apparently I did? I put all my tattoos in a new category as well, so it's really odd that it would overwrite one of mine.
  4. Yeah that's the one I was using that seemed to not be working in game. Or if it was working I couldn't tell. I ended up downloading a separate gimp normal map plugin that has additional options and the results were much, much better.
  5. That's interesting I'll have to try that. I did get the normals to work by changing some settings in the gimp normals plugin.
  6. So I discovered by accident that you can keep the game running and replace the file and it will update in game just fine. Just had to change my preset back and forth to one that had the tattoo on. Nifskope method works well too but my characters are generally pretty far off from the base head model. And I did install blender and...whoa. Looks like quite the learning curve.
  7. So I uninstalled the creation kit. Reinstalled. I can now load speculars as 1024 x1024 Bc5/Ati2 (3dc) made in gimp. Whew. I installed the plugin for XCF in Paint.net but apparently it hasn't worked in a few years. Thank you again for your help.
  8. I appreciate your help. I've been through every tutorial and video I could find and it seems I'm quite possibly the only person to have this issue (and mention it online). I think I've got the basics of the tutorials covered, even if they had conflicting information (compression settings for example). Every guide/video said to use bc3/dxt5 compression and yet that compression gave me brown face bug. Only the 3dc actually worked in game. However it only prevented brown face, turns out the normal map isn't working in game, although it loads in Nifskope just fine. I've tried literally 100 different combinations of resolution and compression for the specular and it won't load in the creation kit. I see even in Looks Menu Customization Compendium most paints/tattoos have the diffuse and normal as 2k, and the specular as 1k and often have used different compression methods and all works fine. I get the error with 1k or 2k specular and every available compression in gimp and pain.net. At this point I'm up against an issue that isn't solvable through existing tutorials that I've been able to find. And all that I have been able to find say the same things: that this should not be happening. "The format of face customization texture Nap's Synth Face\Nap Synth Tattoo Normal map1024.dds (77) does not match that of other textures (83) on race 'HumanRace' (00013746)." This is pretty much my only lead right now lol. Anyone know what it means by "format", and what the 77 and 83 mean?
  9. FORMS: Attempted to instantiate a character tint editor without valid race tinting data. Also getting that when I open up human race tab in creation kit. Not sure it's tied to my mod or not.
  10. Could it be that each texture (D,N,S) has to match the format, resolution, and mips of the FACE and SKIN texture I have installed? Edit: Might be part of the problem. But I don't see material files for any of the modded tattoos/overlays I have installed. Here's the error it gives me in creation kit: FORMS: The format of face customization texture Nap's Synth Face\Nap Synth Tattoo Normal map1024.dds (77) does not match that of other textures (83) on race 'HumanRace' (00013746). So what does the 77 and 83 refer to? There's were additional errors before I changed the scale to 1024. Progress?
  11. Wow thank you! I guess I still have a lot to learn, not quite sure what the material files are for? Turns out the normal map isn't working in game either. I see in creation kit many of the tattoos/overlays have normals and speculars, as do many of the additions from Looks Menu Compendium. Are there extra steps required to get the game to display the normals/speculars for tattoos? Is that what the material files are for? Edit: I restarted creation kit and can load your diffuse edit, but both your normal and specular edit give me the same message about textures not matching.
  12. I should add that it's a face tattoo/overlay, if that makes a difference. I tried exporting as every version available in Gimp. Made a separate file and tried to load each one. As far as the resolution, my D and N were 2048x2048. D exported as BC3/DXT5, N AS BC5/ATI2(3dc) (which is the only one that wasn't giving me brown face bug, not sure why), and for specular I tried exporting as every compression available at 2048x2048, I then scaled a few versions down to 1024x1024, 512x512, the creation kit gave me that message for any file I tried to load into the specular slot. Do all the files need to be the same compression? If so, why does everything except bc5/ati2(3dc) give me brown face bug for the normal map? I also just noticed it seems to remove the alpha channel in the normal map when I export as bc5/ati2? Still seems to work in game, although I'm guessing it's not ideal. Odd I'm having these issues that I can find no mention of anywhere on the internet, lol. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/67321/?tab=files This is the mod, with the D and N, didn't upload the specular with it.
  13. Working on my first mod and I'm so close to finishing, but now when I try to select the specular map texture I made in Gimp in the Creation Kit, it gives the message "Texture does not match the format, resolution, or mip level count of the other textures." I tried just for fun to try to load other textures in the specular slot and get the same message. It does in fact match the resolution, format, and mip count of all the other textures. I tried remaking the specular map several times, changing the resolution and compression method in gimp to no avail. What gives?
  14. I actually started doing just that! Loading up nifskope is much, much quicker than loading in game. I did make some progress this way but I'm thinking it will never be perfect. Best I can hope for is reasonably smooth lines that don't look like they were drawn while sitting in a vibrating chair.
  15. Are there any free programs that let you edit textures, or images, with the mesh loaded? Even if you have to convert the image later to dds? I'm just getting into trying to make my first mod and it's a kind of detailed face tattoo/overlay that is a nightmare to make look decent after it morphs in game to your characters face.
  16. I appreciate the reply, most of that is gibberish to me lol. I didn't change the texture size. And it worked in game, it had the desired look I was going for, except for creating the brown face bug. From what I can decipher you're saying gimp wont work for speculars in fallout 4? Or does it need a specific compression (dxt5?) when exporting? Edit: I exported as bc5/ati2 (3dc) and it worked.
  17. I edited a specular map texture in GIMP, added a little bit to it, and saved it. For some reason it now causes the brown face bug? What did I do wrong? Is there something special you're supposed to do here?
  18. Face and/or body skin or tattoo/makeup/overlay that looks like cracked porcelain. I've found a couple makeup/tattoo mods that almost have something like this, but I saw a screenshot of a character with this look on their face, starting at the inside of their eyes and branching out towards their cheeks. I can't find whatever pack it was from. But something full body and face would be amazing, if anyone feels up to the challenge. Or really, anything in this style. Like broken glass lines branching out, almost like veins but...straighter. Or veins. Veins would be cool too. I've just installed GIMP and am overwhelmed lol. I'm going to try to make a very basic tattoo/overlay of some kind just to learn the process. If I have time.
  19. I got it to work with Cathedral Asset Optimizer. The body, anyway. The face textures don't line up so I've got 4 eyes, 2 noses, 2 mouths....lol. This is beyond my skill level. I'm assuming you've got to edit the textures with photo shop or something?
  20. I found an older, obscure, hard to find body texture for skyrim. I thought I would try to load it up in fallout. I got it working to where I could preview it with Bodyslide Preview, and it actually looks good minus some odd seems at the hips. But...it crashes the game when I try to load a save. What would one have to do to convert the files for use in Fallout? Or rather, any body texture files from LE or AE? From what I read textures from Oldrim have to be converted to work in New...rim, is it the same for fallout 4? Thank you!
  21. I'm setting up a new install of Skyrim and going a bit crazy. I downloaded all the creation club mods and I'm wondering if there's any I should avoid that are just horrible and buggy and prone to conflicts? The descriptions for the mods aren't very in depth and the lack of bug reports or discussion means I don't really know what I'm getting with them, as opposed to Nexus. I'm assuming these mods are leftovers from when Bethesda tried the whole monetize player mods debacle?
  22. So I still haven't figured out WTH is going on. I tried reinstalling and reloading a half dozen different texture mods, and the body texture never changes, just the face. It's loading a darker, lower resolution body skin with pubic hair, and none of the body texture mods I have installed have pubic hair selected. It's very strange. Somehow the game is ignoring my body textures I have installed, even with moving them to the very bottom of the load order in mod organizer.
  23. I had an idea for a mod a looooong time ago. Basic premise is that you're a mass murdering and thieving maniac in Skyrim. What's your body count? How many bandits have you killed? How many family tombs have you raided? How often did you steal a family heirloom? I suspect occasionally someone, somewhere, would want revenge. Or attempt to take back their property. Take revenge for you killing their brother, father, friend, cousin, etc. I made a proof of concept version years ago but it was very basic and I was (and still am) completely scripting illiterate and it was a chore learning even the basics to make it work. But it technically worked. I remember attaching a script to a sword, placing it in the leveled lists, and when looted it would spawn an enemy that sought you out and attacked on sight. But I wanted to add dialogue, and notes/journals and such, and real life killed the dream. I think this would be such a great (and IMMERSIVE!) addition to Skyrim. I would love to see someone that knows what they're doing make a legitimate version of this.
  24. Appreciate the reply. I noticed it's actually all female npc's in the game as well. I don't understand what happened. I'm probably going to try deactivating all character texture mods, saving, exiting, re-enabling. Not sure what else to do.
  25. For the first time I used the "Skin" selection while in Looksmenu and editing a preset. Where you select Body/Skin and can change the whole body skin, Hipoly seamless for example. I applied one of the textures, and it was hideous compared to the texture I was using, so I removed it. Except it didn't remove for the body, only the face. Now all my presets on that save have that body texture, despite never loading skins on those presets. Anyone have any idea on what I can do to get my original body texture back? Or why it's not removing from the body? Can I manually edit in the preset text files? Thanks!
