  1. Well, guess I'll just wait for EW and try again then (hopefully it'll make some changes to the .exe), don't really have the will to reinstall, not after all that it's put me through. I don't know how much more help you could've offered (thank you very much for that, by the way), so no need to apologise.
  2. Tried it while offline completely and still got the error. Tried EXEPatcher, same result. That's how I've been trying it for this whole time; first remove the checks and enable loading the.ini, then mod the game. So I actually haven't even gotten to modding the game yet, since I have to edit the .exe first.
  3. I never installed games under Program Files in the first place, so that's not an issue (always use D:\ partition, installed Steam & Origin there aswell). Event Viewer listed nothing under the Application (or any other) log, but under System I found: "Application popup: XComGame.exe - Application Error : The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application." Win7 Ultimate SP1 x64, Steam is installed on D:\, game is up to date (update 4 IIRC), reason for modding .exe is trying to manually add Warspace Extension 1.75 (heavily modded by myself) I didn't consider that the hex editor (HxD Hex Editor) could be at fault, will give that a try and edit this post wen I get the results. *edit* Tried running HxD as admin and got the same result when running the .exe. Close to giving up now, will probably wait for EW and an then try again :(.
  4. Replacing (mainly the "x" in xcom with "c").
  5. I'm trying to use these techniques: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/DefaultGameCore.ini_settings_-_XCOM:EU_2012#Recent_Discoveries (Disabling hash checks and Enabling INI loading), so I can bypass large edits to the .exe, but even the smallest edit (hex or otherwise, anything that changes the .exe in any way) causes the 0xc0000142 error upon launch. And just to clarify, if I use my backup original .exe, the game launches and works.
  6. Any clue why hex-editing anything in the .exe would show a 0xc0000142 error? Is it possible that the .exe checks it's own hash at startup or something?
  7. I'm actually complaining about everything regarding the mouse (could go on about the UI aswell, but that's not the point here). It's unbelievable how they managed to make such a bad port, I mean the in-game mouse feels completely detached from the hardware cursor since the only thing they have in common is direction. I've been tinkering with those settings, and so far haven't seen any noticeable difference. BTW, IIRC the default values were 0.0200 for Y and 0.0100 for X. And here's the crux of my problem. I want the in-game cursor to behave the same way it does on my desktop, since that's the way I use my mouse. If I want a lower sensitivity, I can lower in on the mouse (granted, not all people have variable DPI, but that's what the mouse sensitivity slider in a game should be for) and I don't know or haven't heard of anyone that actually likes mouse acceleration/deceleration/smoothing/dampening/.... AFAIK that's just crap ported to us from consoles where ineffective directional pads need it. Sorry about the rant, but it just pisses me off seeing Skyrim being so celebrated on the PC when it's a downright awfull port. Back on topic, are there any other ini tweaks affecting the mouse besides the above mentioned heading(?) and acceleration?
  8. Thanks to a bug not hiding the hardware cursor (apparently have to manually disable visual themes or desktop composition under the Compatibility tab (basically disable Aero), but that's not the issue here), I can easily demonstrate just how much Skyrim's mouse behaviour sucks. The video was filmed with Fraps, at a fullscreen resolution of 1920x1080. I didn't modify the Skyrim.ini or SkyrimPrefs.ini in any way (though I gave it a try later with mouse acceleration disabled, which made almost no difference). http://youtu.be/Q-njfmlRS8M">http://youtu.be/Q-njfmlRS8M" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"> Just for kicks, I tested 800x500 in windowed mode and at that resolution, the hardware and ingame cursors almost overlapped. http://youtu.be/nqFzAIOMRL0">http://youtu.be/nqFzAIOMRL0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"> So, Anyone got any ideas if it's possible to fix it, or am I going to skip on the Skyrim DLCs (played it when it first came out and somehow managed to suffer through)?
  9. Simple, this is what you do: Disable all mods (or just the ones mentioned above), load a save before you entered the mansion for the first time and presto, it will work.
  10. I think I'm just gonna keep those mods disabled, and play without them at least until I finish PL. Not going to risk it braking something else. Tnx for letting me know that I should only use the v2 mod and that it belongs on the bottom guys.
  11. There we go. NavMesh Generation Filter and James Invisible wall bugs remove V2 were the culprits. I disabled them, loaded a save before I entered the mansion and was able to play through.
  12. Well, I disabled everything except for the game and the PL addon, but it still didn't work. The problem is that out of all my installed mods, the ones that require PL have nothing to do with any scripts or anything like that (weapon/armor repair lists), so the culprit must be somewhere else.
  13. Same here. Using the latest version of the patch, FOMM and FOSE. 14. I apologize for necroing this thread, but I've been looking for a minimap for a while now and I can't seem to find it anywhere. There are plenty of HUD mods out there, but it seems none of them add a minimap. I was thinking if making a classic minimap (a circle or square at the edge of the screen) isn't possible, then maybe somehow making the Pip-Boy not come up all the way, just close enough so that we can watch the map while running (kind of like checking your watch for the time).
