  1. hi i am writing a better guide on how to run vortex using steam proton
  2. hi on the Compatibility tab did you check the box next to Force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool and are you using a version of proton i am using proton experimental i will add screenshots to make the guide simpler to understand
  3. hi you can get Vortex to run as a non steam + proton Download the Vortex installer -> click add Game -> click add a non-steam game... -> browse to the install file -> click Add Selected Programs -> find the Vortex installer in the steam list and the click properties -> on the Shortcuts tab change the name from Vortex-Version-Number.exe to Vortex -> on the Compatibility tab check the box next to Force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool -> start the installer and install like normal Click Play -> you will need to find the prefix folder that was created when you installed Vortex you may find this folder in /home/UserName/.steam/root/steamapps/compatdata change the folder view to List and arrange by date or search for Vortex when you have found the folder make a note of the name of the folder for example "2684186698" -> click properties for Vortex on the Shortcuts tab click browse and navigate to /home/UserName/.steam/root/steamapps/compatdata/prefix folder/pfx/drive_c/Program Files/Black Tree Gaming Ltd/Vortex and select Vortex.exe click open -> now if there was no errors you can now start vortex form steam when you have installed the mods do not start the game from Vortex start the game from steam Note when you start Vortex you will get an errors .net framework is broken to fix this errors you will need to use winetricks WINEPREFIX="/home/UserName/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/prefix folder/pfx" winetricks --force dotnet46 fore example WINEPREFIX="/home/userName/.steam/root/steamapps/compatdata/2684186698/pfx" winetricks --force dotnet46 fore example this will install .net framework 6.4 you will need to install the Builtin Mod Browser Extensions to install mods installing a web browser in the same prefix and adding the browser as a new tool on the vortex dashboard the setting to register to handle downloads links is not working i will update this post with more information and fixes
  4. there is a way to have mods and multiplayer just look at how minecraft handles mods 1 when the player connects to a server that has no mods and the player has mods install they will get an error saying you will need to disable you you mods to play on that server 2 player connects to a server that has mods and the player has missing mods or the player has newer or older mods installed then player will get a message saying you need to install the following mods or the server is running an older / newer version of the following mods minecraft is a single player game and multiplayer and that game has mods as long as the online is optional and i can play offline and there is a single player game i will get the game but if there is optional coop that may be fun
  5. http://www.gamerevolution.com/guides/393047-fallout-76-no-mods i do not think this is true 1, that will annoy a lot of the players 2,they have https://bethesda.net/en/mods they may use that for the official way to get mods i believe there is no security risk in using mods from a reputable site like nexusmods
  6. In response to post #45846680. #45846845 is also a reply to the same post. hi do you get any errors wen you try to start NMM open the folder C:\Users\User Name \ Documents \ Nexus Mod Manager move any files in this folder to a a new folder and then try to start NMM dos it create a crash log file you may need to open the folder C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Local rename the folder Black_Tree_Gaming to Black_Tree_Gaming.old then try to start NMM if you get to the Game Name Setup use different folders i recommend you have your folder like this Mod Directory: F:\Game-Name-Mods\Mods Install Info: F:\Game-Name-Mods\Install Info Virtual Install: F:\Game-Name-Mods\Virtual Mods Folder
  7. In response to post #45647750. hi if it is the problem i think it is i found a fix for this i posted it on the bug tracker but the NMM bug tracker is gone edit1 can you post a link for a mod that fails to install become of this bug if its the bug what i think it is then a fix is in the file Mod Formats\fomod.cs comment out the line 973 C:\NMM Source Code\FOMod\FOMod.cs FileUtil.ForceDelete(Path.Combine(m_strCachePath, GetRealPath(p_strPath)));
  8. one of the reasons i do not use NMM a lot is i play Fallout 3 and fallout new Vegas and i use mods that have scripted installers that fail to install using NMM i hope the new mod manager will support the scripted installers that fail to install using NMM also one thing that has been bugging me is when on the download tab when i increase size of one column the column next to the one that grue shrinks instead of moving all the other columns i have all so run in to a bug to day the Windows maximum file path length the mod Fallout 4 - Texture Optimization Project http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/978/ the Optional files optional hotfix for grass being wierd the file name is to BIG possible hotfix for grass disapeerances that some people are reporting. personally i dont use this but if you reaaally need it here it is. (this file absolutely will hurt performance)-978-.7z
  9. any one got a copy of Snapping Improved (No ESP) and does this mod still work
  10. hi all as the site is still up but running slow i guess the new setup is working i wonder what is the average numbers of users for the release of skyrim special edition compared to other game releases?
  11. imho i add one more permission i am looking for someone to port my mod but i want to choose who gets to port my mods imho Bethesda need to add options when you upload a file to Bethesda.net to mark it a private so the only one that can see it is you and add a option private teem you and other teem members imho they need to hide any files that get reported 6 times or more as stolen and prevent the up loader from deleting any files so they can investigate the claim and if the claim is true the the file is deleted or permanently set to hidden but if the claim is false then the file is unhidden
  12. hi do you have the star trek bridge commander and star trek armada 1/2 mods archive ?
  13. hi imho what Mod Picker is doing should be added to the nexus
  14. hi the ability to backup a mod profile sounds interesting BUT this will not work withe older games i use a lot of mods for FO3 FONV that have scripted installers that fail to install using NMM so i use FOMM - Fork and what about mods what where not downloaded form the nexusmods but install using NMM ?
  15. hi if you are think about testing the Beta and you have mods installed then i recommend that you use a program like 7zip to compress a backup of the game folder and a backup of C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Fallout4 and C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Fallout4 if you are going to mod the game or test the Beta i recommend make a compress backup of the clean game folder imho it makes sense to disable mods in the Beta to have the game running in a known state to make sure that bugs are not getting added by mods or mods are not hiding bugs that you may have gotten if you had a clean game imho it is a bit annoying the console being disabled there's probably a reason we may not know the reason but there's probably is a reason
  16. In response to post #35698967. #35701342, #35702772, #35718302 are all replies on the same post. hi yes i use pale moon YouTube flash i can get 1080p but on the HTML 5 i only get 720p pale moon do not support MSE (Media Source Extensions) i have flash set to ask to activate and i use java portable and i use multimc for minecraft i do not use java in the web browser and i do not use Silverlight the reason i use an ad blocker is i DO NOT ! Trust the ad providers
  17. In response to post #32361100. hi do you use a ad blocker ? and what browser do you use i recommend that you disable java and enable click to play what version of windows do you use ? what happens when windows updates kills your system do you get a BSOD ? or a boot loop ? I recommend that you backup any important data remove any USB HD delete the c: partition and reinstall windows when you get back into windows DO NOT install any drivers and run windows update if this works install you drivers one by one restarting every time you install a driver good news the data base dump was old
  18. hi this mod looks interesting are you still working on this ?
  19. hi N.M.M is not a bad mod manager but there imho addons that does not use scripted installers works good but if the addons uses a scripted installers then the addon may fail to install readme files one thing that irritates me is most mod authors name the readme file as readme.txt that is ok if it is only one mod you are installing but most players install a lot more mods imho readme files need to go in a folder named readme/ModName "open your favourite coding program and do it yourself and help out millions of other users in the process." if your favourite code editor is visual studio express 2008 you can not open the project file because visual studio express 2008 does not support solution folders
  20. hi that is good news that you have found the problem imho the nexus mod manager being offline is not a problem i do not use it to install mods i use mods that have scripted installers that fail to install using NMM so i am still using fallout mod manager to install the mods

  24. hi the file you need to edit is Fallout_default.ini in common\fallout new vegas not Fallout.ini this file gets overwritten whithe Fallout_default.ini when you use the Launcher to stop you losing you inventory drop all your items in to a container and save you game and then activate Fallout3.esm you need to use ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35935 you do not need to extract all the files just the sound files Fallout - Voices.bsa / Fallout - Sound.bsa / Fallout - MenuVoices.bsa edit 0.1 if you are going to load a save file you need to put all you items in to a container and save it in a new save file before you activate Fallout.esm 1. You need FOMM, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas and about 5 minutes. 2. Open 2 explorer windows and browse to your Fallout 3/Data directories and Fallout New Vegas/Data directories. 3. Copy the following files from Fallout 3/Data to a temporary folder: Fallout.esm, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - MenuVoices.bsa (DONT COPY Fallout - Misc.bsa) 4. Rename these BSA files so they wont over-write the New Vegas BSAs (e.g. Fallout - Meshes.bsa to Meshes.dlc.bsa) 5. Once renamed, move these files into your Fallout New Vegas/Data folder. 6. in common\fallout new vegas open up Fallout_default.ini in notepad or notepad++ 7. Hit ctrl+F and search for 'SArchiveList' 8. On this line, add the bsa files you just copied into your New Vegas data directory. Then save 8. in your Fallout New Vegas/Data folder, open Fallout - Sound.dlc.bsa with FOMM. (Double click on it and if prompted, select or browse to FOMM.exe in your fallout 3/fomm directory) 9. expand Fallout - sound and then select sound then press the button extract all 10. open Fallout - Voices.dlc.bsa expand Fallout - Voices select sound then press the button extract all 11. open Fallout - MenuVoices.dlc.bsa expand Fallout - MenuVoices select sound then press the button extract all 12. Close FOMM and start the New Vegas launcher, click Data Files. 13. Check Fallout.esm and hit ok. 14. Launch the game and load your save, once in-game press the tilde key (~) to activate the console. 15. Type 'coc Springvale' and press enter. (NOTE: I would advise that you do NOT save your game while trying this out)
