Why is land not appearing in my render window when I create a new world space?

I am new to the creation kit and wanted to try and design a new world space for Skyrim. I tried to follow some of the tutorials that could be found on YouTube. I follow all of the steps of the tutorials but when my world space is shown in the render window no land is generated and all that is created is a gray space that only contains water. In the tutorials I tried following the people always get land to generate either above or below the water which they can then edit to make the land however they want. If anyone can help me figure out why no land will generate for me I would really appreciate it.
