  1. I've been seeing the same thing on every mod page I've looked at in the past 5 minutes.
  2. Well that was not my intent. I'm not going to debate semantics, I asked a question and got a satisfactory answer.
  3. I never implied any such thing Oubliette. I was just curious as to the stance of the site regarding that. Seeing as they are volunteers and were members first it's really a non issue at all.
  4. Why are moderators allowed to endorse images and mods? I don't think it's very professional for the Nexus to allow that kind of thing. While someone is an active moderator or member of the staff shouldn't they have to support all files/images posted to the Nexus equally? Just curious is all.
  5. Meh. Talking about an overhaul without focusing on the one thing that gives the Nexus imageshare an edge over any place else isn't worth bothering with. Well other then the posting set up as well although you can do sets on tumblr so... I think Top image system can be very simply altered to be more fair. Restrict it to one set per person, if they get into the top there is a 3 weeks cooldown before another set of theirs can be in the top. That way the ones with a large following or large friends list will get there tops and be out of the way for other users who don't get the same level of support. Would alter things to a one week cycle as well instead of a two week rotation. This would render a lot the silly social games these people play moot. Allow more users proper recognition and increased views. This would only be implemented on the more active imageshares like Skyrim/Fallout 4. As Jim has pointed out the other imageshares are fine... If future games show up with very active imageshares you can just roll them into this filter while less active ones use the old system. Removing the top image section only further increases the current status quo. Those who sit on the high perches of having a large friends list or a large following will continue to get lots of recognition and support while the rest remain even more obscure. I do like the idea of a tagging system so you could filter tops of landscapes, portraits, mods etc but that would require the system to be enforced and used. Also it would be nice to have a way to reward those who do support a lot of people, however it would have to be done properly. As someone merely copy/pasting Nice shot or good shots isn't really support. Some of us enjoy things in different ways.
  6. I see that my random images idea was not explained properly. My fault... I meant every time you clicked on the random image section it would select a new group of photos from the past two weeks. So you could click it multiple times to see a variety of stuff, Much like a random playlist with music etc. I suppose you could attempt to spam images to abuse that however I think with the Skyrim imageshare activity that would be difficult. However without the listing and competition effect that the top images generate I don't think this would be an issue. The problem right now is Persona A posts an image, because this person has many friends they get enough endorsements to hit the top. Then that image gets way more traffic and soon it's at the top, anything they post afterword will naturally get more views from them having a set in the top. Thus it will get more endorsements and also have much higher chance of getting into the top. Snowball effect. There have been certain users at times that would post a set in and be in the Top images the same day they posted. Now when you combine that with some one who posts very regularly they began taking over majority of the spots available. Wolf is right the issue is the social aspects of the Skyrim image share. The active people who have the free time to maintain a large social group will continue to dominate the top images as they do currently. So if you can't play the game... Just accept that no matter how good your set is a single shot of some glass jar with a butterfly in it will get 100 endorsements and you'll get jack. Having looked at the other image shares, I'm inclined to agree with Jim I don't think any change should be done with those. The Fallout 4 imageshare will be more of a wait and see on how active it becomes. As there are some repeat authors but nothing overboard like the current Skyrim TI. @Alex; Currently it's every two weeks. I think a weekly cycle and 1 slot per person would improve things to some degree. @Wolf; The mod would give you nice gauge on if it was helping people plus allow an open dialogue for questions/additions in the comment area perhaps. However the wiki would be more readily accessible, information wise.
  7. I was not even aware that the Nexus had a wiki to be perfectly honest. There is no link to it on the main page that I could see. After a quick google search though low and behold there is one indeed. I did not mean that the guide was a staff responsibility, as you are right it's something that could be done by myself or fellow users. *Edit* I see the wiki section now, however it's not on the actual main homepage. *Edit* @Dark0ne Well if it's on the table can't ask for anymore then that. As I know the work on redesign and rolling that out/working out the bugs etc. Will be your primary focus. As with anything it all takes time and work.
  8. From what I've read from post by a moderator on Flickr the only change that is happening is users only being able to have one image at a time in the top images section. Other then that same functionality we currently have. What they really need to do is overhaul the imageshare. To be honest there should be guide put together and linked to in the add image area that explains how to make sets using off site hosting. it's in the Nexus's best interest to encourage creating sets which would also cut down on the single shot spam. The less images host on there servers the less $$$ needed. As after all I have over 3000 Skyrim images alone that I could upload here... However I make sets so only have 132 images hosted here. Where as certain members are nearly at 2000... The Adult tag and imageshare rules should be changed. Adult tag should allow nude shots to be shown, sexual situations can remain in the supporters section behind the paywall. Kind of ironic that I can post a shot of chopping a guys head off but not a women/man naked. Also the adult tag currently has no meaning or purpose. It's generally only used to circumvent the circlejerking blockade so people can get there shots shown. It's supposed to but it never gets enforced. Example; http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/images/555025/? Which according to this chart I've seen linked many a time by "Staff" ... https://www.flickr.com/photos/zwabberdiebo/24056741214/ It clearly should have been marked adult... There is many more where that comes from as well. Unless the chart system has been revised or is no longer relevant then info on how things are judged would be nice. Along with those issues the image size limit is rather annoying ruins the look of many shots. A list of banned mods/armors is something that would be nice too see.(Perhaps community project? meh.) The top image section should be removed, it's basically the cancer of Nexus imageshare. The same authors get endorsed and over endorsed time and time again. Purely because of a flawed system that promotes circle jerking and not merit of the work posted. There is person in the Skyrim imageshare section right now who currently holds 7 spots and does this on the regular by spamming 3 shots a day. Can we not ban someone for narcissism? Guess not. You could replace that section with an area that selects like 30 images at random from the past two weeks. That way perhaps more variety could be shown and less of the same overrated single shots. If the top images remains then there needs to be some kind of moderation done to shutdown endorsements for regular top spotters for certain periods of time or a one top image a month filter. As the current system has driven many people away and it also creates a toxic community. I don't think the category system gets used very much either, you'll find most people just label there work as aesthetics. As a quick image search gives me nearly 26,500 out of 37,000 images marked as aesthetics. That's only the Skyrim imageshare as well... Perhaps more useful categories like one for writers/stories would be a good idea for those who like to read them. As currently Wolfgrimdark's writers list is the only reliable way to find a list of Nexus authors.
  9. The view counter in the image share needs to be updated to count only unique entries, might be a good idea to do it with mods if it hasn't been done already. So the same person cannot create views over and over again, whether it be a guest or members.
